I'm guessing some kind of rounding error or difference in the algorithm.
That's "guessing", mind you. Unasked for counsel: Go with the higher amount.

| Not sure if there is anything here that might help
I think I have a possible reason. If you look at the item totals they are slightly
different is maybe since they requested a quote before ordering the currency
conversion changed and that changed the tax since the amount was different?

I see.
Currency for payment: USD
The order total was: 25.00 CAD
Your total shows 18.70 (USD), so that was a rate of 0.748 USD/CAD
The BASEGRANDTOTAL is 45.96 (CAD)
The total in 34.49 (EUR), so that was a rate of 0.7504 EUR/CAD
The calculated VAT is 7.98 (CAD) * 0.7504 = 5.99 EUR
And 7.98 (CAD) * 0.748 = 5.97 USD
So, it's everything but clear, but the calculations are exact.
On your picture here:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1366349
... the numbers WITHOUT currency are USD, and the ones with EUR are EUR (doh!).
So it's normal you see 5.97 which is the VAT in USD (which doesn't mean
anything, BTW) and 5.99 which is the one in EUR.
There is no rounding error, it's just complicated because seller in CAD,
shipped to EUR Country and paid in USD.

Was the order paid in USD by a French member ?
Currently, USD and EURO are very very close !! That could be an explaination...

| Paid in usd by a member from the Netherlands. When I resent their invoice (I
do that after x amount of days) it said the vat has changed I’ll check the current
currency conversion rates and compare it to the order
