I wasn't here when Dan was still alive, but I feel the same way. I am so
happy for what he created and how it allows all of the varied AFOLs of the world
to come together and interact.

These types of entities typically use the one page letter in shotgun fashion,
either from their legal department or law firm on retainer, to handle and quash
any perceived encroachments on their business. It’s unfortunately effective on
the little guy or small business. Never did see legal redress eBay imagined they
might’ve had with the name use.

I remember the debates on whether it should be extended to include usernames

eBay has NO right to the words Auction Bay! That has been around for centuries!
So if you want to have a company with the word Bay in it, it's perfectly
allowed and the judge would just laugh and throw out the case. And hopefully
the judge would make ebay pay for the other's legal fees and compensation
for inconvenience! They were just jealous of losing money to another website!

Problem in those cases is the cost to defend yourself.
So when eBay sends you a Registered mail from their lawyers, you may back up
and don't take this risk. IMHO - I don't know much about this, just this
story about the BrickLink name.
BTW - to reply to the original Post:
Dan has made (at least) one great thing, is remembered by many people - and that
what counts when you're not here anymore.

I wonder how many erroneous hits Dan Bricklin's website has received over
the years due to the site name. I think I visit it once every few months.

I am here for more than 12 years now (and I hope for a long time !), and I try
to be the nicer and most useful I can...
As everyone here, I know how big was the work done here to make this website

us. Tomorrow marks the one-year anniversary that our dear friend Ethan Lakey
died at age 16. He worked for us in fulfilling orders for several months, and
