I'm trying to upload a LDD file for my 9 year old, but the upload says an
item it's in the bricklink catalog. Any way of finding out what the problematic
item is? The file loads fine in the BL Studio, but I can't successfully upload
it to a BL Wanted List.

Thanks!

Try uploading it directly from Studio.
It’s one of the buttons on the upper right. (Middle one?)

When uploading a file, it should tell you the problem part. Usually it’s a part
that BrickLink has added a letter to the part number and the LDD file hasn’t.

On BrickStore you can import XML, LDD and Studio files:

https://github.com/rgriebl/brickstore/releases

items with alternate IDs sometimes are autocorrected and unknow items for BL
are shown with red line across the row, see if you can check which ID shows as
that and we might help you better.

Yeah, it’s annoying when that happens

The file loads fine in Studio because it can load some parts that are not in
the catalogue under the same number.  It has the 3D models for the parts roughly
converted from LDD, so they show but they don’t have connectivity or link to
the BL catalogue.

And if you use Studio to make a Wanted List, those parts won’t be in it.

You need to check in Studio which parts are not known to Studio.

To do that, select the Main palette and use the special search “=!CurrentBuildingPalette()”
in the Steplist (see https://studiohelp.bricklink.com/hc/en-us/articles/6508513723543-Searching-in-the-steplist#Show_parts_not_available_in_the_selected_palette
).
Only the unknown parts will be shown in the Steplist.

You can then remove them, or replace them with parts from the Main palette before
uploading or exporting as a WL.
(Better save the file in the .io format too )
