| Does it bother anyone else as much as it does me when looking through a store
(with want lists) and finding listing after listing of the same part with different
prices and in some cases the same price.
9 pages of items I need only to scroll though and find 4 different parts.
Now as soon as I see the same part listed multiple times its back button time.
They need a 'vent' category.

Yes/no - it's a pain for the buyer, especially if you buy the most expensive
lot while not paying attention
It's a pain for the Price Guide too.
Some sellers don't know about Consolidation.
But many others calculate the price of a single lot depending their actual cost
price for this specific lot.
Ex: a 2780 Black cost 0.02$ (proportionnaly) in this set part out, but 0.03$
in this other set. So they have 2 different lots with different prices.
I can understand this reasonning - but yes, it's a pain for many.

Don't forget to favorite!
Drives me crazy unless they have actual reasons for it such as quality, but 9
lots with the same new part, yeah I'm not shopping there. So glad they gave
us a unique lot column when buying by wanted list.
There was a seller on here, not sure if they are still selling but they actually
never parted out a set, they didn't consolidate any lots, they just put the
set number in the comments. Then they went to each set the needed to to fulfill
an order, I am assuming randomly searching bags frantically looking for parts.

This is a complex answer with lots of variables on top of what was already stated.
Some sellers a have them in multiple locations in their physical inventory so
choose to keep them as separate lots, or perhaps they are selling parts for a
secondary party and need to keep the parts separated to calculate commission,
I myself will have 2-3 different lots due to part condition.
And sometimes Bricklink just likes to not tell you you already have that part
in your inventory because of some minor difference in the description, or a system
glitch. Too many to keep listing. LoL

| I understand why the sellers are doing it, I only wonder if they understand how
many buyers are exiting their store without an invoice.

better seller tools and Statistics, we can only hope.

That's the point: yes and no.
When they're doing this for different prices, the buyer may benefit this
practice while buying from the cheapest lot.
If they'd consolidate, maybe all their consolidated prices would be higher
because the more recent are higher.
In this, it can be very fine for buyers - especially if buying some quantities.
Apart that case, it's pure pain, agreed!

There isn't any bug on BrickLink about this.
Just Consolidation parameters to set up when you upload lists.
Of course, if you add manually (who still does this???) it can't work.
Of course, if you neglect versions and upload "a" and "b" then it won't/can't
consolidate.
For 16 years I didn't catch any glitch when uploading.

| if it is the same item in the same condition then yes. But since I tend to describe
any flaw I can find on parts, I often Have multiple listings for each part in
different conditions.

| I do this as a seller because I store items for sale based on purchase date rather
than item type.
It helps me for tracking costs, saving storage space, and picking orders faster
which leads to lower costs for the buyers.

| I took a quick look through some of your items. I didn't find any items
listed more than twice (it was a quick look), two listings I can deal with, maybe
3. Of course there is usually two due to new and used.
I am talking more about the sellers who have 4, 6, 9 or 12 listings of the same
part.
I only back buttoned you because you don't ship to Canada.

| I’m more of a specialty parts shop, so I’m probably not the worst offender. I
did check though and have 800 lots with duplicates. 😮
