There was some interest in my shelving system with LEDs for which I custom wrote
some software, so I took a really quick video to show it off. You can watch that
video here:

https://youtu.be/kpmAs9pOU7s

I talk about my inspiration for this being the software I wrote to synchronize
Christmas lights to music. Here are a couple of my light show videos.

https://youtu.be/2Ql0Xz_81y0

https://youtu.be/TqOleIBh6fQ

If there is anymore interest in the specifics, I may do a second video.

Many people have some programming experience, even if they aren't "programmers"

Nope, we don't read them either.

The only people that read them are the interns at law offices that are in document
review.

Donno, but I'd say, to program something is to set it up so the next time
it's run it does what you programmed it for.

Take Nubs_Select for example. I programmed him. He'll reply to this post!

Seems like a large contingent are. I feel like we do Lego to relieve the stress
from work, being a good programmer is stressful and many bosses in IT are not
technically proficient.

I also think that is why a lot of noobs come in and think the website could be
better.

I've found a far more economical system; it says "pick at A01-05", so you
go to columns "A", find the "01" one (the first, obviously), and pick in the
"05" (fifth) drawer.
There's a sticker on it showing "A01-05".

No LED, no wire, no power.

In short, what you did is a very nice system for sure, but IMHO here, a bit overkill
and not really optimal for production

But, again, sincere congratulations!

But you need to read.  And even if it’s not long, it’s a bit longer than seeing
a light.

So I’m not sure your system is more ‘optimal.’

Anyway, my system is way better: all in my mind, positional memory.

Now, where’s the remote control again?

Yes

Mine have a sticker on front as well. e.g. 04-10-5 is shelf 4, row 10, bin 5.
Zero prefaced for simple sorting.

No LED, no wire, no power.

I had everything left over from my Christmas lighting days, only time was spent,
which has been paid back and now pays dividends.

In short, what you did is a very nice system for sure, but IMHO here, a bit overkill
and not really optimal for production

I'm a data driven guy. Comparing orders of similar size:

Without the system: 240 parts in 70 lots - 55 minutes
With the system: 232 parts in 71 lots - 42 minutes.

I can do a 10 lot, 30 to 100 part order in about 3 minutes, from order received
to packed and ready to ship.

Plus the software makes it so that I can copy/paste my shipping info right into
pirate ship. Also, the software can find bins that are not quite full, add stock
by element id, upload brickstore files, part out sets, get notifications, and
more!

Soon, I will have a proper sales history and be able to do some cool analytics
that I can't do on BL.

But, again, sincere congratulations!

Thanks!

My girlfriend is the "system" here.
