Perhaps someone could explain to me why there is a such a pricing disparity between
these 2 left and right parts in Sand Blue colour since they both come only from
the same one set?

1 side was probably used in a popular moc which increased its price

Could be, but I also don't understand why the 41765 avg used sales pricing
$8.90 is double that of the new $4.43 and both have significant quantities available
for sale?!?

it looks like since there are so few available in new condition there aren't
any expensive ones for sale and as such it hasn't sold for as much as opposed
to the used one it was likely sold in a large store where the person didn't
care about the price and just purchased it for the higher amount which drove
up the price.

There's nothing logical in prices.

Sometimes the average suffers of typos. May times people put simply crazy low
or high prices. Sometimes buyers will buy at any price, because you need 1 or
a couple of them and really don't care for the price compared to the whole
building. Sometimes those orders are showd in the price guide and will later
on been cancelled, and disappear...

In short, it doesn't mean anything.

It is true that there is nothing logical in the prices. This may be a different
topic but I feel that vendors that including shipping in their pricing throws
the average sales pricing waaaaay off. There should be a better way to remove
the shipping cost component from the price indicated so that apples are not being
compared to oranges. For that matter, why does BL even allow vendors to include
shipping cost in the pricing of anything? Shouldn't that be a totally separate
thing entirely when invoicing?

Not all high prices include shipping. Large stores can price higher for reasons
other than to cover shipping costs. If we went down that street it wouldn't
end since then we would then try to remove stores that have selling fees and
payment processing fees incorporated into their prices. and then shipping supply
costs, etc...

I suppose you are right. That would become a slippery slope indeed.

If somebody buys those 8 dollar wedges from me, it will cost them 16 bucks PLUS
at least 4 bucks for shipping. So, 20 bucks plus tax for two pieces.

I am happy where my price is at. It is not an error. I have had those pieces
hanging around for so long now, I might at well get paid for storing them all
these years

As for my OCD -- yeah, I priced both left and right parts the same with a
nice even number. And my OCD does not allow me to sell only one side and not
its mate.

Yep - Buy 50000 parts at 0.005 with a 19€ shipping price, or 1 part at 0.10€
with a minimum of order of 30€ and *only* 9€ shipping price (but slower shipping).

Add Sales Tax or VAT, and add 5% PayPal fees, and add the PayPal cost because
paying in XYK will be charged 5% by the seller.

Yes, BrickLink should do everything, it'd be so easy!

PS: you're serious?

All it takes is one big sale in quantity at a high price to do weird stuff to
the price guide.

I personally made a $2 part go to a $20-25 average for well over a year because
of one desperate buyer. I just checked and the average is still around $12. Years
later.

I kinda regret it because I used to hoard them for myself XD

Indeed. I personally credit myself with the prices of many themes of instructions
these days.

It's almost always the same for wedges, wedge plates, etc.

They're mainly NOT used to rebuild the original Set, but to build personal
creations or downloaded MOCs...

... in which only one of the pair may be used.
Which then creates a difference in price (because offer / demand).

Seems those offer/demand things have a long hysteresis because when you look
at the stock, some have decades of stock and there’s still a price difference.

AFOLs often claim they are OCD… but they don’t check the prices of left & right
aren’t the same or it doesn’t bother them when they check?  Pff, not real OCD
then.
