A thought.....

When searching for a part using the All Item Search with sort set to Best Match,
the site should build the results starting with actual match before listing possible
variants.

Example:
Keyword: 3137c01
Results Generated: 3 - 1. 3137c01assy2, 2. 3137c01assy1, 3. 3137c01

When best match is selected, the order should actually be..... 1. 3137c01, 2.
3137c01assy1, 3. 3137c01assy2

Currently I would have to select "Item name (A-Z)" as the sort function to generate
this result.

Thanks for indulging me!

It is already possible.

The result you see is because when you are doing a basic search you are searching
for both the part number and keywords. The first two results appear as the part
number is a keyword in the item titles. If you want to search for part number
only use the advanced form: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogSearch.asp, that
way you will go straight to the exact part only. Or if you search for the part
number 3137c01* (with the asterisk) through an advanced search, you will get
them in the order you want.

Or they could show part number hits before any keyword hits in the basic search.
