| Hi. I am adding to my Iron Man collection and have noticed (myself and from other
threads) that sh612 and sh649 are the same figure but catalogued separately because
of the accessories included... are there any other known 'duplicate'
figures which are given different catalogue numbers due to add-ons please? Thanks
in advance :0)

Here a two minifigs same but one with a pair of gorilla hands
|
Hands that are worth a few cents and make the minifig about 50% more expensive
when bought new.
I sold minifigs with the same basic parts like legs, torso, head and headgear
that were more expensive than the minifig with exactly the same parts plus extras
like an armor. Just because the minifig with fewer parts are only sold in 1 set
and the same minifig with more parts in, for instance, 3 sets. So less can be
more.
For me it is a strange thing in the world of selling on Bricklink.

Both Karlof are in the same set.
So it’s because of the contradiction between
— the rule excluding hand-held accessories from minifigs,
— and the need for the ‘real’ / complete minifig entry (both sellers & buyers
want this).
So there’s both.
And then prices diverge because people don’t know there’s two entries and sellers
can only use one… well, they could split their stock between the entries if they
have more than one but then they would have separate accessories to handle… and
anyway one entry will be found more easily than the other and sell more and therefore
be more expensive and sellers will only use this one….
And that’s when both entries are created at the same time. When one is created
later, the market is already taken… or maybe it appears rarer and therefore gets
more expensive.

Yeah, when first released, this Yoda
was about double the price of this Yoda.

Not specifically within super-heroes but elsewhere there are quite a few that
just differ by having a cape (or not), e.g.
and
and
Within Ninjago there are a lot where it's just a scabbard/armour or other
neck/back accessory that makes it different, e.g.
and
and
and

Thanks for all the replies :0) It is specifically Iron Man I'm currently
interested in but it looks from the info people have given that sh612 and sh649
and hopefully the only examples of this for that particular character. Thanks
again - appreciated.
