| I recently reopened my store for the summer, after not being open for a couple
of years. Obviously, much as changed!
I had a new buyer (1 feedback) buy something at my store but then have trouble
figuring out how to pay. They had selected Paypal onsite but said it wasn't
working. They asked about other ways to pay (e.g. Venmo) but I said I needed
payment by Paypal.
The buyer stayed in reasonable communication but was clearly struggling. Then
they paid, but to the wrong email address (I use a different address for BL than
my mail email address). I didn't want to confuse them further so I figure
this was OK.
I packed and shipped their order, but now I can't set the order status to
shipped. I assume this is because the onsite option was chosen but the payment
was not made onsite. I also figure this makes things tricky for sales tax collection
(a new feature since I last had my store open).
So -- how do I fix this?
Thanks for your time,
Karen

BrickLink left us no way to submit payment for taxes in instances like these.
Officially, you must refund the payment and try to get them to replay via Onsite.
Not a great plan.
In real life, however, I know you can fiddle with the Order Status and Payment
Status drop-down menus to get past this. I'm not sure about Shipped, but
I know it is possible to mark it Completed so as to turn off the notifications
for it. I've had to do this twice with confused buyers who paid offsite.
(I am happy to remit the taxes for these still if anyone would set up a system
to do so!) If it's a low-value order, I wouldn't loose much sleep over
it.
Good luck,
Jen

I believe one thing that works is to enter a credit amount in the CREDIT column
to make the order total equal zero. I did this once when I did an even trade
with another seller where there were 2 BL orders but no money involved.

Sounds interesting, but how does the credit thing behave in terms of taxes and
BL fees?

Making an order total equal to ZERO has NO Change to BL fees -- that fee
will always be charged to the seller (unless an order is Cancelled).
Making an order total equal to ZERO does eliminate taxes. 5 percent (or any
tax rate) of zero is always zero.
