| Hello community- I am currently in the process of inspecting, cataloging and
photographing my inventory. Any and all tips on best practices around the following
topics would be greatly appreciated.
- New store set-up
- Listing inventory
- Pricing
- Shipping
What am I missing?
Looking forward to your input and feedback.

You probably don’t need to take photos of most things

First you’ll need at least 1 feedback and the you can start the registration
process
Takes time but the more quantity you list of the same part the more efficient
it will be
Start at 6-month sales average and go from there decreasing/increasing prices
based off how many sales you want
As I’m in Canada I can’t help much with that but a good thing to keep in mind
is to ship in well protected either in a bubble envelope or in a poly mailer/box
with bubble wrap
Insurance is always for the seller and not the buyer. Whether a buyer paid for
it or not if it dosnt arrive PayPal (probably banks to) will always refund buyers
| Looking forward to your input and feedback.

re: Shipping - I meant more around signing up for a UPS service or something
like. Do you get discounts if you do?

Having a UPS account is not a bad thing, especially if you plan to sell Lego
sets (either New or Used).
For everyday use, you will want to sign up for a third-party shipping service
so that you can print postage or shipping labels yourself. Pretty much all of
these services allow you to get discounted rates. There are the old standbys
of endicia and stamps dot com but the preferred service these days is www.pirateship.com
which gives discounts to all users and charges zero fees. I have never heard
of anyone with any real complaints about Pirateship other than the lack of integration
with BrickLink, being that a lot of manual cut-and-paste is required. But most
sellers prefer it over the shipping service offered these days by Paypal dot
com. You can also use the online shipping tools offered by USPS (the US Post
Office), too, which will also get you the discounted rates (and you can schedule
carrier pickup).
The most important tool you will need for shipping is an accurate postage weigh
scale. Most any electronic postage scale with a 10-pound limit will be fine.
You can even buy one at your local post office (for about 35 dollars). Some
of the newer models can even be interfaced with your computer and, I assume,
with your preferred shipping software.
Good Luck, Have Fun, Sell Tons of Lego and Make Lots of Money.

I signed up for Pirate Ship. What do I put in my shipping policy and methods
section to let buyers know this?
TIA

Buyers don't need to know you use Pirate Ship - you can mention it but you
really don't have to. Just say what methods you use and what the cost is

You do not have to explicitly state that you use PirateShip. But you can say
that you offer discounted shipping rates if you choose to pass the savings on
to your buyers. Or you can state that you charge retail rates (and keep the
savings for yourself).
You will still be shipping via USPS and UPS. PirateShip is simply the vendor
from whom you pay for postage. Your outgoing parcels can still be placed in
regular mailboxes or taken to a post office or UPS shipping location.
