Just wondering at what point, as in number of bricks ordered, do you send Parcel
Post VS Letter Mail?

Do you package in numerous shipment in order to send Letter Mail?

Thanks.

for me, it's not the number of bricks than more so the weight. My cap on
lettermail is 150ish grams (parts under 2cm approx) as anything more than that
often requires multiple envelopes or just becomes too much to ship lettermail
and I ship it parcel instead.

Canada Post's upper limit for Lettermail weight is 500 grams. In practice,
it usually becomes very difficult or impossible to fit the dimensions of lettermail
at anything over 400 grams. (Remember, the package not only has to be less than
2 cm thick, it must also be fit within an envelope no more than 380 X 270 cm.)

Most of my orders that go lettermail are lower than 100 grams, with a good percentage
of the rest between 100 and 200 grams. Orders over 300 grams are much less common.

I would not divide an order into multiple envelopes to sell lettermail. First
of all, this would rarely be needed or practical. Secondly, people need to realize
that packing a complicated order in a nice flat envelope that meets the lettermail
criteria takes a lot of skill and extra work for the seller, in order to save
the buyer some postage. You can't just dump 50 2x2 bricks into an envelope.

Good point on multiple envelopes. The hard part is keeping them flat enough,
a challenge to say the least. But also give me a weight idea. Most are under
100g.

thank you

I usually stack bricks as much as possible. Just sent an order with 40 pieces of bricks, plates and tiles. Stacked everything, whole 15cm x 24cm envelope was filled but only 1.5 cm thick in a bubble envelope. I think it also keeps everything in its best shape, no scratches and long plates and tiles are supported. The order was 98g including the envelope.

Just me bragging

Remember that some buyers will not appreciate bricks being stacked, especially
new bricks as in some folk's eyes, that makes them used. I flat pack many
orders with a lot more than 40 pieces, and have never yet stacked bricks to do
it.

Our Post of Slovenia has this limit. I am sure some other Posts have the same
restrictions too.

Post was not displayed correctly due to 'less than' symbol. Here it is
again:

Interesting. Usually letter mail is considered if weight is less than 2 kg (~4
lb) and dimensions:
W+H+L less than 90 cm (3 ft) and none of the sides must not exceed 60 cm (2 ft).

Yah. Well, we can't assume anything when comparing Canada Post to "normal"
mail companies. Often there is no rhyme or reason. CP is a beast of its own,
don't expect any sanity there.

Click on 'reply' to the post above and you will see it in original form.
And when you click 'post'....everything after the 'less than'
symbol is stripped.

I won't go over 200g for domestic or over 100g for US/international. Instructions/stickers
I will go higher. Otherwise its all small packet/parcel rates.

If you're talking about lettermail above, last time I checked, Canada Post's
terms don't actually allow goods to be sent to the USA or internationally
using that method - paper only. I know it works, but at some point there will
be problems b/c it is against their terms.

OP's original question: I have an expert lego packer (my wife) and we regularly
send orders between 400-500g within Canada (no stacking and including envelope
weight). Although, I don't like using lettermail, it is the least expensive
option. If I could go without I would because lettermail does not meet Paypal's
terms and is not always the best experience for buyers. There can be very long
delivery times with zero tracking and liability.

+1
I remember like a year or so ago I was notified of this and some people provided
links that explained it better on Canada posts website and since then I only
send American orders parcel. Thankfully chitchats has cheep American parcel rates
so it wasn’t to big a deal

Cheapest option to send Lego from Canada to the US with Canada Post is called
"Small Packet". See:

https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/cpc/en/business/shipping/international/compare/small-packet-usa.page

Depending on your account discounts, this should be around CAD 8 to CAD 9 for
the smallest packages.
