Yeah, I was clicking fast cause they sold out in 5 minutes last time. No time
to read.

Maybe Lego should have engineers that blocks you from making a order that is
not valid.

That way I wouldn't of gotten disappointed an hour later when my order was
canceled.

But blaming the customer is good too I guess

A better approach would have been to give the customer the limit, then (assuming
some are still available) invite them to order another after 48 hours. That would
give more people a chance to get their first.

wow, they canceled 5x of my orders, (ordered two of everything)

So what happens now that all my duplicate orders are gone for a project that
says SOLD OUT?

Are they going to make less then 10k sets or reopen the inventory?

I'm pretty sure this was stated somewhere before, but if you don't follow
the order specifics, your entire order is cancelled. This would mean that you've
lost out on the items that are currently sold out. Sorry.

Nope. You simnply receive nothing and LEGO is fine with that. I did not ordered
duplicate things, paid at 19:03 and all ordered sets got cancelled one hour later.
Thank you...

Yeah the limit is always tricky so i always order 1 less then the normal limit
just to be on the safe side.

1-1=0? New way to save money maybe. Very interesting way of buying items I must
admit.

Same story here. I placed an order for myself, paid with creditcard, all fine.
After that I placed a second order for family using their shipping address and
their credit card, but via the same Bricklink and Lego.com account. Thinking
this was alright and within 'fair use'. They are not 'online people'.

I noticed after refreshing like 20-30 minutes later that my first order was cancelled
(I received the e-mail about that like 8 hours later).

In my panic that my own order was now gone and sets were all selling out I placed
a THIRD order and paid using Paypal. That order nog hangs in limbo, unprocessed,
no e-mail confirmation. Will now start the process of trying to get that resolved
and/or money back.

What a fiasco...

My guess is that all your orders will be cancelled as you ordered more that 1
from the same account. Shipping address doesn't matter as the same user
made the purchase and it was limited to 1. As for getting your money back, you
were never charged. If you used a credit card, there is an authorization that
is on your account that will drop in time and for Paypal, it's kind of the
same thing. With the PP system, they move the money, but Lego won't actually
process the order since they aren't shipping anything and it will automatically
come back to you. I did this for my order in the first round and I want to say
it came back in like 2 weeks or so.

I think for PayPal it's 28 days?

You are right about Paypal, I just checked, it's an authorization only so
that will probably drop off.

Actually the Lego.com status is updated. My first order got cancelled manually
by Lego, the second order went through, the third order simply disappeared from
my Lego account now and was never fully processed.

The second order for mom and sis contains 3 sets and is missing Studgate and
the Construction site, which I had ordered for myself (but are now cancelled).

By the way, I did exactly the same thing in Round #2 with ordering for myself
and for moms and that also contained a few duplicates. I always thought the rules
said '1 per household', to which I thought placing 2 orders with different
shipping and credit cards would not be considered abusive.

So yeah, kind of random and really disappointing.

Wouldn't hurt to contact Lego customer support - maybe there's nothing
they can do but if there is something to be done, they're the ones who would
be able to do it.

Definitely, opened tickets and fully explained the situation to both Bricklink
and Lego. But I'm not getting my hopes up. Sets sold out extremely quick
this time, probably a lot of people are feeling like they missed out for different
reasons.

By the way, while I'm ranting, also noticed the Observatory said EUR 269,99
on the Bricklink site (I think since that start) and was EUR 219,99 in my cart
on Lego.com and the latter is now the ordered price. Kind of a bad screw up no
matter what the correct price was supposed to be.

It is especially bad if the lower mistake prices helped some sets beat other
sets to get to the threshold.

As for ordering multiples and having them sent to different addresses, they know
this is a way around purchase limits. I doubt they believe the stories that this
one is for my grandmother and this one for my aunt, etc. Even if true.

I very much doubt they did. The Observatory hit the 3k threshold quickly enough
that the lower lego.com price didn't look to be widely communicated before
it got there, and it wasn't directly obvious to anyone who hadn't tried
to order it - I didn't even notice it at checkout, only when I couldn't
find an order for the "correct" value in my history.

The other set affected by the same issue, Brickwest Studio, failed by a large
margin to reach the threshold at all.

Brickwest Studio was doomed from the moment the minifigs were dropped, as we
know it was scheduled for Round 2 until the Rust incident caused it to be changed
"to avoid any potential inference" to that incident, then when it returned for
Round 3 they decide to remove all the cast and crew minifigs (inadvertently creating
a direct inference since after the Rust incident the set was abandoned for a
while), in addition to removing the minifigs the original price announced for
Round 2 increased as well.
This got a lot of people to abandon their need/want to purchase with 0 minifigs,
myself included, I supported that set during the Ideas phase and intended to
purchase it originally, as soon as the minifigs were dropped I lost interest,
then I saw the price increase and abandoned it.
Even if the price error was known the lack of minifigs would've kept the
purchases low, if it had the minifigs and was at the higher advertised price
it would've beaten one of the chosen 5 I reckon and would've sold out
once the price error was known.
