Congrats! I got my orders in.

Looks like the lower prices for Winter Chalet & 1950s Diner won it for them.
Both of these already had similar sets. I am sad they beat out Steam Powered
Science.

Most excited about the Modular Construction site!

Could not agree more.
Still ordered both of those sets once they got funded though.
Was really hoping for steam powered science to make it. I'm least excited
about the diner, but overall just REALLY glad the construction site made it,
as that was my nr 1 wanted set since round 1.

Same goes with previous round, was so excited for the clock.. but the aquarium
beat that one because of the price. Guess that's part of the game.

I'm a tad disappointed all of the winners were town related when we got a
chance to reintroduce classic space, western and steampunk.

I was able to get a few orders in and am still happy with what was made available.
The designers all did a lovely job!

We've seen this trend across the Designer Program, so I think the town sets
have the most broad appeal. Certainly some of the sets that made it through to
production probably wouldn't have if there were more town sets to choose
from in their round. (For example, the Observatory was originally supposed to
be in Round 1, and based on how fast it got funded the Kākāpō wouldn't have
made the cut if it had been.)

I wonder if this will impact how LEGO handles future Designer Programs or not.

I'm honestly a tad shocked Brickwest Studios didn't make it. It seemed
like the most substantial set at $280US.

It doesn't seem that TLG learns anything from their foul ups. Take for example
today's repeat of the last time they released the Ulysses Space Probe.

Very curious -- will they honor the $250 price for the Observatory on the
Lego Shop rather than the $320 price posted on Bricklink? That's the amount
being authorized by people's cards and PayPal accounts, so it seems likely.
If so, that's a great deal for almost 3,900 parts and a gorgeous build.

Brickwest Studios was also showing up on people's carts for the old price
and not the price listed on Bricklink. Many of us, including myself, didn't
buy it because the new price was so steep. Seems like a really big mess.

Yes, when some sets are significantly underpriced and only later repriced after
they reach the finish line in a race to the threshold it seems a bit unfair.

How are they going to explain away this round's cock-up?

Looks like they corrected the price. I got one at $250, woot!

Considering you don't actually get charged now and won't until they are
shipped, I would bet that everyone will be charged the stated price of $320 (or
whatever your price conversion is).

I don’t think that’s legal (IANAL, depends on your country, blah): the contract
was sealed with an amount, TLG can’t change it willy-nilly.

The only way out is if the amount was “obviously” wrong… but that doesn’t seem
the case (it’s not a €1000 set at €10).

It doesn't stop them on changing prices on bricks and pieces orders. They
don't even inform you, they just ship then charge the price on the day. I've
sent an order back to them before because of it. It is a good idea to keep the
email version of the order as that has the prices at the time of the order.

That’s a problem: in theory, we think consumers are protected, in practice, it’s
“eh, it’s not that much and you can send it back for a total refund, what do
you want more?”

I mean, even if you kept the package, disputed the charge, and somehow got in
front of a judge, the judgement would be: give the package back, you’ll get your
money back, stop pestering us.

My inner obsessive “rules are rules, it’s not fair” self is silently crying.

I've never seen that!?
And anyway in EU, it's 100% illegal.

So I highly doubt LEGO does/did this (rencetly anyway), even by error.

In the past they frequently changed prices compared to those displayed on bricks
and pieces. Sometimes pennies, but sometimes more significant. They also changed
the prices in the online order, so you had to use the email confirmation to complain.

I suppose they can cancel the order if the price was wrong, but they could also
ask if you still want it for an extra +XX before cancelling if not.

Or they could accept the loss, we don't know...

That’s exactly what I think is illegal.  Unless the “pre” in “pre-orders” make
it all different.

I somehow doubt they will

Now I am bummed. I would have spent $250 on the observatory. I didn't even
bother checking today, as $320 was beyond my price point.

Was able to snag all but the Chalet. Anyone else worried about the box damage
due to the recent way Lego has been shipping carelessly?

Almost every big set I've received recently has come creased. Apparently
Lego thinks a single sheet of brown paper is enough packaging.

Seems only North America: my latest orders were in the usual cardboard boxes,
execpt they were filled with brown paper instead of air bags and the boxes were
sealed with strong paper tape instead of being circled with plastic bands.

No lag here… and the pre-orders started 2h15 ago, not all day.

Yes, congratulations. I will sulk a bit about the Science one not getting in,
and move on with my life. *sigh* For now, I think I'll self medicate with
a chocolate Frosty from Wendy's to soothe my pain.

What a bummer! I didn't get there in time!!

I really wanted a train station and observatory. I guess I will just go kick
a can around.
