Hello,
It was suggested I post here.

My father-in-law found some Lego kits hidden in his basement he must have hidden
back in 1974.

The kids are 730 Steamshovel with truck and 710 wrecker with car.
Both marked made in Denmark 1974.

730 is missing the plastic box wrapper and the box has a few minor damages but
is 100% complete with Instructions never assembled and the 710 kit is 100% complete
with shipping plastic wrap and price tag.

I’m looking for a ball mark value.

Thanks in advance.

Here are the sets (seach for them in the search box on top of every page, then
look at the different possibilities (LEGO reused the same numbers for different
sets, *sigh*)):

Set No: 710 Name: Wrecker with Car
*
710-1 (Inv) Wrecker with Car
91 Parts, 1974
Sets: LEGOLAND: Vehicle: Traffic

Set No: 730 Name: Steam Shovel with Carrier
*
730-1 (Inv) Steam Shovel with Carrier
102 Parts, 1973
Sets: LEGOLAND: Construction

Click on the numbers and you’ll be able to see the sets’ page in the catalogue.

Then you can see items currently for sales (a few…) and the prices of items sold
in the last 6 months (well, appearently not for these two rare sets).

Know that, for BL, the difference between New & Used is not in the aspect of
the bricks but in their history: Used = has been built at least once, New = never
built (best is New Sealed, when the parts are still in LEGO bags… but that’s
for more modern sets).

As there’s not many of these sets in the same condition as yours for sale / or
sold, you may want to look at similar sets (same years, same number of parts…)
to refine the valuation.

Nice. And those boxes look great, which is lucky as they are usually just as
valuable (if not more) than the bricks.

That "Wrecker With Car" was the very first Lego set I ever owned; I got it in
1974 at the age of 3. It was the start of a very long love affair with Lego.

I think your best bet would be to do an ebay auction on these. I'm not expert
at all, but would expect these are in the range of roughly $75 to $175 depending
on if they're new/sealed. Lower if one is not sealed and you don't know
if it's been assembled or not.
