Hello all!

I made my first mistake when it came to ordering on Bricklink. I have placed
an order and sent money via Paypal (didn't use on site payment because I
was on my mobile device and I wanted to ensure I placed the order before the
item disappeared).

The invoice shows that the order is paid and the status column even says "Paid".
However the "Paid" column that can show Red/Green is showing Red as if I did
not pay it. I just want to make sure the order went through and that the seller
knows what I ordered and that Paypal sent me confirmation that I sent money to
them.

I may be overreacting a touch, but it wasn't exactly a small/minor order
for me. Thanks in advance and I know it might be a newbie question, but I am
a "better safe than sorry" person.

Have you contacted the seller?

I have, and I am still waiting back on the reply. They have had positive reviews
and have done thousands of sales so I am hoping it's something that I can
fix.

Probably since you live in America (excluding like 2 states I think) you have
to pay onsite through bricklink and you cant send payment any other way otherwise
the seller would technically be committing tax fraud as onsite payment is needed
so bricklink can collect sales tax.

That makes a lot of sense actually. I feel beyond miserable for potentially messing
this whole thing up. I let the excitement get to me and I made a mistake, if
that's the case. I am at least glad people are explaining the "why" of it
though.

I expect this should be fairly easy to sort out - your comments here are very
reasonable and sensible, and not looking to blame others, so there's no reason
for this to cause a problem with your seller.

One slight issue is that the seller will have paid a PayPal fee on the payment
you already sent, which PayPal will not refund. I suggest you contact the seller
and ask them to refund the original payment minus the PayPal fee (so you cover
the cost of that rather than them), then you can redo your payment using the
"Pay" button in your screenshot above to ensure the sales tax is processed correctly.

I think 99% of sellers will be happy to work with you to sort this out because
we all like reasonable customers

Well I try to be reasonable and understanding. No one is really at fault, unless
you count my excitement getting the better of me haha. I checked for an update
from the seller and they have changed the status to "Shipped". I guess I might
have to play the waiting game, unfortunately since it's international shipping
and customs in their respective country have a delay on shipping items - it will
take quite a while.

The curious thing is that I checked their store to see if the quantity of the
item changed (due to my ordering of it) and it still remains at the same number
it was before. I think there might be some hesitation for them to Paypal the
money back to me since the item is already shipped. I think I may have to give
benefit of a doubt and see if the Detective's Office comes to my door. Thanks
for the positive comments

How much was it? The seller will have to refund the payment to you, then you

reimbursed the paypal fees due to the incorrect payment.

I may not even be able to do this since they marked the item as "Shipped". It
was the Lego Creator Detective's Office (my white whale) so you can imagine
the price haha.

All in all, I am taking this as a huge lesson. Always use on-site for Bricklink.
