| How good is Pirate Ship for doing labels, price compared to PayPal shipping,
and can you get insurance to cover first class international packages. I have
been using PayPal for years now and they moved me to Shipstation of which I'm
not a fan of but can tolerate. My 3rd party insurance was always done with Shipsurance
in the past and then single packages weren't possible so I went to InsurePost...now
they are sending you to Shipsaver which completely sucks. Just wanting simple
shipping and simple international coverage that I can offer if need be for reasonable
pricing.
Please chime in...what do you all use and pay for??
Thanks

+1 for Pirate Ship here. I have found it cheaper than USPS domestically, not
sure on international as I am just about to dip my toes in those waters. With
the cheaper price I am able to ship my orders in compostable packaging for the
same amount as USPS from home as I have a postal/counting scale and 4x6 label
printer in my Lego room. I am sure other software does this too, but Pirate ship
auto fills addresses by copying buyer's address from BL and then pasting
addresses into a cell which is super fast and easy!

It's good as all the others. I use it mainly for International, as you have
the IOSS option there, but not in the Paypal freebie Shipstation account. So,
for that, it gets better marks than Shipstation.

I use PirateShip and have very few complaints. You can buy insurance on PirateShip
through Shipsurance - far cheaper than USPS insurance, and I believe it works
internationally too.
The two (minor) complaints I have with PirateShip:
- No BrickLink integration. They say it's on their radar.
- I'd like to be able to set a default "from" address for each integration.
This isn't possible as yet.

| I moved to PirateShip just before PP went to Shipstation. So glad I did. I
love it, the prices are great, you can choose from USPS and UPS (without a UPS
account) You can also use USPS Flat rates and Regional rates. You can get insurance
for international first class package, it uses Shipsurance.
The main reason I moved was because PP was allowing USPS to lock down my label
making ability when the new USPS scanner said I didn't pay enough on a package.
The problem was my 2oz package was on top of a 3lb box. They do take a picture
of the offending scan and it's always their mistake. I had to pay the upcharge
fee to USPS to allow me to make labels again. I then had to dispute the charge
to USPS to get my money back. The dispute process is long, complicated and can
take up to 2 months. Someone here told me to try PirateShip.
Now when the USPS screws up and says I owe more money on a 2oz package, I get
a notice from PirateShip about it and a link to dispute it. It was cleared in
2 weeks. I'm not going back to PP.
PirateShip allows for import of addresses from Ebay, Etsy, and a bunch of others,
but not BL yet. The copy/paste is easy. Copy the entire address from PP and
paste into a large box at the top and PS fills in all the info automatically.
You can make a preset package size and weight if you use the same packaging
most of the time. You can create a preset return address also.
It's free, try it and see if it will work for you.

I have been using PirateShip for my small shop for just over one year. Over
$2,000 paid into PirateShip so far with no fee to me and no problems. It is
not the best interface, especially when I am rushing to print out a bunch of
labels and get to the post office before it closes -- several clicks involved
-- sometimes I swear at it to hurry up.
As for applying insurance to packages -- it so easy to do and the costs for
insurance are pretty cheap.
The one benefit to using PirateShip versus Paypal shipping that no one else has
mentioned -- Because it is a third-party vendor, when you pay them using
Paypal funds, you earn your 1 percent back as a Paypal card purchase. In my
case, having spent $ 2,000 I have earned back 20 dollars to my Paypal account.
A small amount, but since selling Lego is mostly about small amounts, it means
a lot to me.

What's the process of entering addresses to ship to? With paypal, it has
all the purchases right there to select from, no entering addresses or anything.

PayPal/ShipStation has some limitations. For example, as far as I am aware, there
is nowhere to input BrickLink's IOSS number when printing a label, so if
you are shipping to a country that has VAT, then you need to use a different
shipping service anyway.

Are you saying Pirate Ship is entirely manual when it comes to addresses?

I don't know because I've never used Pirate Ship before, but looking
at the PayPal ShipStation interface, I don't see a place to input BrickLink's
IOSS number in order to let the recipient country's postal service know that
VAT has been paid.

| You can copy the entire address and paste it at once. I don’t see the big disadvantage
of having to do a couple of copy and pastes versus many disadvantages of PayPal/Shipstation
like not being able to enter the IOSS number. Pirate Ship does have better customer
service and helps you if USPS says you underpaid shipping. PP/S not very helpful

It's just a time thing. Paypal has them all loaded ready to go, and has the
correct addresses you need for seller protection. I don't let edge cases
decide the norm- they get dealt with separately.
