I've noticed a couple of stores marking their shipping up to extraordinary
prices. I was just quoted $19.95 to send 4 minifigures and the pizza van across
one state. This is starting to smell like when eBay sellers upcharge for shipping
only to use a cheaper version. For the first 20-25 transactions on here, there
were no problems, never over $8-9 and I bought creator sets etc, but now it's
$19.95 for two sub 8 oz 'sets'? Anyone else experienced this lately?

Let me guess, the price for the set and figs was low?

Is the set in a box?

Some sellers use packaging provided by USPS to send packages. These have preset
shipping rates assigned to the size of the package. Based on the price, the
seller could be using a large flat rate shipping box.

If they are shipping you this set, it weighs nearly 14oz.

If no shipping prices were quoted up front, then ask to cancel due to high shipping
charges.

I would be very careful using the word extortion. Excessive might be better.
It all depends on the seller, and if they are using retail shipping or commercial.
Postage prices have been increasing as of late, but that feels high to me.

I dont know about extortion but some stores tend to push the envelope we try
and keep our shipping low to med and fair pricing.

This pizza van?

Set No: 60150 Name: Pizza Van
*
60150-1 (Inv) Pizza Van
241 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2017
Sets: Town: City: Food & Drink

It's definitely not under 8oz but I suspect the reason for the high shipping
(although that's still a bit high imo) is the volume of the box. You might
be able to save a bit on shipping by asking the seller to unbox the set.
