Do any experienced buyers have tips on purchasing parts from overseas? Anything
I should know if I plan to start buying from Europe? Are there hidden costs,
higher risks, things too good to be true? Clearly parts are selling for lower
prices in large quantities from some of the EU sellers… are these likely to be
scams, or fake Legos, or is there something I am missing that allows their inventory
to be so high and prices so low? Are there certain countries that have better
reputations for reliable shipping or more honest sellers, or anything else that
would help me feel more comfortable with purchasing outside of the United States?

Thanks!

Have purchased from Europe a few times before, zero problems whatsoever, if your
order is under $600 or $800 or whatever you don't have to pay any duties.

Same rules apply to USA—look for reputable sellers with mostly positive feedback,
if it seems too good to be true then it probably is, etc.

I've purchased from overseas many times and have not had any problems. Two
things to keep in mind though is that you will have a slightly higher shipping
cost so I try to make sure my value is worth it. Secondly shipping times will
definitely take longer. I try not to order anything from over seas if I have
a deadline, but will use it for bulk orders or misc. part to complete minifigures
and such for my store. I've had some order take 7 days and had a few take
a couple months. Just know that even if a stores say "10 days shipping international,
they can't guarantee that with all the different transportation issues.

Good luck.

What do you mean? In Europe there are more charlatans?

If you feel unsafe stick with the highest feedback rates, to begin with.

Delays are probably a longer of course; shipping prices may not be a problem
- and in all cases are far far lower than from USA to EU (sorry to say).

BTW - I know a good shop in France

Sylvain

PS: regarding prices and qties, remember Europe is closer from many sources,
and in a general meaning, LEGO may have a bigger market here than elsewhere.
In short, it's probably easier to get big quantities and good prices.

We’re picky with our bricks and with our customers.  That’s why all our
buyers gave us a positive feedback and dithyrambic praises

Only added expense I've encountered is the exchange rate conversion. It's
$1.00 thru Paypal.

Only thing to watch out for is shipping cost. For an empty padded envelope, some
stores in NL will charge 8-10 euros while others will want 28 euros. Either stick
to stores with Instant Checkout or ask for Quotes.

I’ve never had a package lost or damaged, cross your fingers.
And UK/EU shops have a much deeper inventory of obscure old stuff.

Have fun!
