| There was a leak a while back that TLG was going to start a subscription service
where you could buy old retired sets. Is there any news on which sets yet? Maybe
something amazing like 10123 Cloud City or will it just be spare sets that
nobody wanted, like the 2017 AT ST from Last Jedi?

No, it was much longer. M&RProductions mentioned it a few months back in one
of his videos.

Are you sure the information was reliable? For this to happen Lego would need
to either:
1. Have a bunch of retired sets still in storage somewhere or
2. Bring out many of their old molds to start manufacturing these retired sets,
in which case they would technically no longer be retired.
Either way doesn't sound feasible or profitable for Lego.

I noticed that "retired" is only mentioned in the headline and the lede, then
never again.

| I read the 'buy sets from the archive' more as what they've done
periodically with re-releases of old sets or possibly even the newer 'recolorization'
of sets, except that they'll limit it to selling to people who pay for their
monthly service.

| It was barely alluded to in a single question in an online survey. It wasn't
a leak.
lego tabloid media will publish anything.

Indeed. Some people read it as you could order just about any past set from LEGO's
back catalogue.

It did feature surprisingly heavily in the follow-up survey in January this year
though, in the sense that (almost?) all the suggested subscription options included
it.
It's clearly something they're thinking seriously about, in one form
or another - which would probably not be one that most participants hoped for
- but that's far from any certainty that they'll introduce it.
