I got notified by ShipStation that they had to give $3.48 of my hard earned money
to USPS because of APV. It is the first time I have had that with ShipStation.
The email doesn't tell me anything, but I dug in and found a CSV that is
mainly gibberish, but under reason code it says DUPLICATE.

The charge they took from me was equal to the charge I originally paid for the
package. I don't know what duplicate means.

To be clear, I have already sent an email asking for my money back. They have
always given it, though it is sometimes nearly a year later.

Is it possible that you send 2 packages using the same label?

We once got a message that we sent an extra package to a buyer. It's for
another order. He confirmed that we used exactly the same label. Several days
later we got charged by USPS. This is before ShipStation.

I enter every tracking number into an app as I print the labels. The order is
over a month old and there hasn't been anyone contacting me, so I think my
process worked. But I have heard of ShipStation reusing numbers and I kind had
that happen last week. Not the tracking number, per se, but the Customs ID on
a package going to Canada shows it was delivered last May and I don't think
it was, because I just sent it last week. So it could be that.

Heads up! My request for them to refund me was denied. First time that happened
to me. So I paid twice for the same shipment for a reason called "Duplicate"
with no explanation. I expect it has to do with ShipStation reusing tracking
numbers.
