Hi All,

I had an order arrive two weeks ago with a piece missing. It was only one piece,
and only worth 5 cents, but I contacted the seller. I have now contacted them
twice, and still have no response. In the message portal, it says that neither
of my messages have been read by them.

Here's what I have done as a buyer:
1) Have the order sitting at "received" and not completed yet.
2) Contacted them twice (through Bricklink, not email) about 1 week apart.

I have never left negative feedback for anyone, I also have not received negative
feedback myself before, and this seller has 100% praise, so that makes me think
they just may not be getting my messages for some reason? I am not a seller
on BL yet, so I don't know what the seller interface looks like when people
contact you....

So, here are my questions: What do you do next when the seller does not respond
to a problem? Is there a courtesy time limit I should give them to respond
before escalating to any next steps? Or, am I making too big a deal, and should
just drop it because it's only 5 cents?

I have tried searching the forum for any info on this situation, but surprisingly
there isn't anything helpful that I could find.

Thanks in advance!!!

I would prefer that people leave negative feedback in a case like this. Warning
others and all that.

I also get wanting to avoid retaliatory feedback, but 1 negative out of 100 isn't
so bad considering how many shady buyers and sellers are on this platform.

Wow, a negative! That is really harsh for a missing 5c part. Perhaps the seller
who is human, is not working on the weekend.

I understand that any missing part is important to the buyer, but you should
judge people how you would expect to be judged. We all make mistakes.

I appreciate both of your input on this, thanks Crimson30 and Joe.

Joe, what would you recommend in this case then? I'm actually trying to
avoid giving negative feedback, because as you said, people are human and make
mistakes. I also hope to open my BL store soon, and would hope that people will
take the same mercy on me when I inevitably make a mistake. Since I've
contacted them twice over a two week period though, and they aren't reading
the messages (status says not read yet), how long do I wait? Is there another
way to contact them?

Really ? Over a 5 cent part ? ....You've outdid yourself Wilbo

The seller may be in hospital and can't answer (since they haven't read
the msg) ....not like they read the msgs and chose to ignore them ...they didnt
read them. They may be off line for any number of reasons ...including compounding
their mistake by not closing their store just before they left.

Seeing Foster back on reminded me of all the needless work and discussion and
NSS that were generated when Foster went MIA when he was off due to hospital
stay

Thanks everyone for your input. I was thinking something along those lines of
them just being unable to respond for some reason (and not purposely ignoring
my messages). Especially since they have a 100% praise rating, they obviously
aren't shady. I just hadn't had this happen before and wasn't sure
what the proper etiquette and protocol was since it was so small. Thanks for
the info everyone. I will just be like Elsa and let it go. .

Brickwilbo, thanks for the link. I won't be using it this time, but it's
good to know in case there are ever any bigger issues down the road. I have
been having all smooth transactions so far in the BL community, and my first
and only issue I've come across is one 5 cent item, so I'm obviously
among a trustworthy bunch.
