| Hey brickheads,
I was after some thoughts on what I should do in the situation I find myself
in with an order from Brickowl.
Customer ordered from overseas in October, paid for by PayPal, all packed and
shipped no problems so far.
In Jan I got the parcel returned to me as address not found.
I have tried to contact via email and BO messages to confirm the address as shipping
is quite pricey, 1/3 the cost of the order. I am willing to pay that to get them
their order, but not if it means it coming back again.
I have had no word from the customer saying they haven't received it nor
have they replied to my notes saying it had been returned and could they confirm
the address. BO lists that they have had another order flagged as claiming not
to be delivered.
Should I;-
1) Just put the items back into stock and refund them if they complain,
2) Hold the items on one side until they get back to me, bear in mind we are
now over 6 months since the order date.
3) Refund minus shipping and put the items back into stock
cheers for your wisdom

I don't think it's fair to the seller to refund shipping. An issue like
this is the buyer's fault, and I think the seller is within every right to
refund the order excluding shipping. It is as if the buyer returned the order
without reason.

There are different laws in different countries, and the seller needs to know
what the law is for their sales. In some territories, buyers can return online
purchases without giving a reason, so long as some other conditions are met.
The seller also needs to consider what PayPal will do if the order was paid that
way and the buyer complains to them.
It is another option they might want to consider in the list, going from buyer
unfriendly to buyer friendly options.
This seller might get lucky and get away with (1) as it has been almost six months,
since that puts them out of the PayPal chargeback period, out of the BL order
retention time (although it is on BO in this case), and probably out of the customer's
mind.

Curious, what's the "wisdom" offered over in the forum on BO, where the transaction
took place and where you're attempting to handle it?
Were it me with no comms from the buyer and contingent to the other details,
#2 up to a year (which I've done a few times) As a general rule, inventory
goes up in value or at the very least, retains the initial value over time. What
you're holding will appreciate in value (in most cases) negating any perceived
profit loss over that year. In other words, you can re-list for more than the
initial price sold, afterwards.
