Does anyone know if it's fine for Lego to be stored in air-tight ziplock
bags long term?

I should think (and hope...) so. All my parts are in bags. All my unlisted "investment"
sets are in sealed totes, with a foam seal on rim. If there's other info
out there to be aware of on this, I'm all ears too.

I've been storing LEGO bricks in sealed ziplock bags for years without issue.
Some bricks do discolor over time but I'm not sure if that is due to light
or air (I keep my LEGOs in the dark hehehe). I did find a moldy cape once but
that was in a cardboard box not a plastic bag.

The only thing I can think of might be moisture. If you're going to store
in an air tight container, might be worth putting some of those desiccate bags
inside. They are made in various sizes from the ones that come in bottles of
vitamins, all the up to huge ones used to keep shipping containers dry. I do
know that some of the older adhesive style seals will fail over time. I've
even seen some examples of glued box seals that failed (after 10+ years).

My first thought was that only the minifigures and dolls need to breath.
Seriously,
My dad packed all his screws and bolts in plastic bags when he moved. He told
me the bags disintegrated and he ended up with a mess. I am guessing he used
low quality plastic bags I also think he stored them in the bags, in a hot shed,
for about 20 years, as he only recently decided to start working with wood again,
and he moved to Palm Springs almost 20 years ago.
I have had cloth (cheap cloth that contains petroleum) bags disintegrate in my
attic, in about 8 years.
