As I chase down some of these Star Wars sets and minifigs from over the years,
I can't help but wonder what Lego can possibly do to keep their Star Wars
line alive. We know there's no plans for a new trilogy (thank God) in the
immediate future and that the streaming series and animations seem to be the
only new content they could potentially design new models/minifigs for. As much
as I love Lego and Star Wars, I can't imagine Lego or fans buying remakes
of everything they've already done (such as another Death Star). In the Netflix
series The Toys that Made Us, they mention how the "dry spell" of material almost
bankrupted Lego and Kenner. Obviously, that won't happen now since they have
Marvel. Harry Potter, etc., but in short... what's their game plan here?!

Sure they can and will keep remaking sets for years to come. There have been
at least 6 or 7 minifigure scale landspeeders for example. There are plenty
of sets no longer available that people missed out on and would gladly buy. Especially
people unaware of bricklink or unwilling to pay marked up prices for old sets.

I’m usually first to point out that LEGO as an investment is certainly risky
as some more popular toy could always come along, but I don’t think Star Wars
is at risk of drying up.

This is more of a Disney problem than a LEGO problem. Looking at all the content
that Disney has created, we have... barely any new ship designs (most are just
recolors) and few interesting locations (and none that had any lasting significance).
The whole plan of "reuse old designs, plots, and locations" only goes so far...

As long as parents keep showing their kids the movies they loved as a kid, LEGO
will keep producing sets to sell those kids. It wouldn't surprise me if more
prequel trilogy stuff gets made, since the kids that grew up with those movies
have kids of LEGO ages.

My 8 year old desperately wants a Lego Death Star, silly me for not buying one
in advance years ago. There’s a huge market of people who weren’t interested
1st, or 2nd, time around.

And sadly I’m not paying £590 to get one new on here, just not VFM for what might
be a passing fancy.

Work has allegedly started on the new trilogy could begin within the next three
years. Then of course there is the delayed Kathryn Bigelow (sp?) Rogue Squadron
movie which was due to come out this year.

There are half a dozen new series inbound (including Andor, Ahsoka and Kenobi
etc.) and of course The Mandalorian and Boba Fett shows that are here right now.

However, Lego still has many, many ships, vehicles and scenes from the movies
and tv series that they could create/re-create/update/re-release that either
haven't been done already, or could be easily updated as early deigns were
very old or lacking. While many of us old-timers/collectors are familiar and
perhaps bored with yet another Landspeeder or AT-AT etc. there's alw3ays
going to be youngsters that these will be new for.

So, there's plenty of life in the old dog yet! Now, Lego, please be a dear
and release a decent UCS Naboo Starfighter (original would do, but Mando's
would be better )

  Kathryn Bigelow (sp?) Rogue Squadron

I can confirm that you DID misspell Patty Jenkins there.

I’m just hoping with Indiana Jones 5 and a new Lord of the rings series we’ll
get new/updates of those themes.
