Hi all,
How long does it take administrators to approve new seller verification? I have
submitted my documents nearly a month ago. I received an email when I first
submitted and sent an email back about a week ago. It has been almost a month
and I still have not heard back and my verification still says pending. I was
hoping to open up my store before Christmas. Does anyone know how long this
takes? On the verification page it says 2 weeks. I am just about at 4 weeks
now. Very frustrating since I have not had ANY communication with bricklink
despite my emails to them. Any of you newer sellers out there, how long did your
verification take?

Your email to the Help Desk may have gotten lost. There is a new submission process
we have recently developed that is independent of email - please resubmit your
documents through that portal and things will progress much faster:

Thank you for the reply. I did use the new submission process. That is why I
am not sure why it is taking so long. What else can I do to speed the process
up?

Thank you,

How does an email get lost?
John P

There’s many ways an email can get lost.  Or, if you prefer, they can get “dropped,”
discarded, which is about the same thing as “lost” when neither human sender
nor recipient knows where or why.

First note that there might be a series of servers involved and not just two,
a sender and a receiver.  So that multiplies the possibilities.

What can first happen is delays because one of the servers is too busy, or the
next hop doesn’t exist or doesn’t answer.  In those cases, the sending server
generally warns that the email was not deliverable, sending an email back along
the chain….

What can happen next is that the receiving server rejected the message outright,
because the sending server is blacklisted, because the email is deemed to be
spam, because the recipient’s mailbox was full, because the recipient doesn’t
exist….  Sometimes, this is done silently, that is, the sending server doesn’t
know and can’t retry or can’t forward the error/problem.
(The servers are silent because they don’t want to divulge info or spend resources
answering the 99% of bogus emails they receive.)

And on top of that, there’s mail clients (the programs or websites you use to
read & write emails) that filter the emails, either they drop them or store them
where they shouldn’t be and where you can’t find them.
(This goes both for the email itself and the “eh there was a problem” emails.)

Most of the emails arrive safely in a matter of minutes if not seconds, but nothing
says they must.

Similar things happen with SMS: those are generally instant, but there’s nothing
that says they must and some be delivered days late or can get lost/dropped.

Talk about 1 in a zillion for all of this to happen. I think a much simpler explanation
is either the email went to junk, accidentally deleted or plain simple overlooked.

I know it was long-winded but:
0. all is not supposed to happen together, those are different possibilities,
1. it answers the question,
2. I did include the “junk” possibility in there

Also, as a matter of fact, it happens to me every time BL “corporate” tries to
talk to me for Community Expert stuff.
(“Corporate” = not the website itself, those emails all arrive very well.)

BL uses Microsoft servers and it happens that my ISP, Free (about 22% of the
French market as an ISP, I don’t know about emails, you can get them for free
everywhere), blocks a part of those servers quite often because people use them
for spamming.
For the same reason, I can’t get emails from Sharepoint or other MS owned website
on my free.fr address(es).

Thanks for all the responses. I actually completed the document submission on
the BrickLink page New Seller Verification. I received an email from BrickLink
saying the got my request to become a seller. The only email I sent was about
two weeks after asking how much longer it will take the team to review my documents
so I can become a seller. I followed the correct new procedure to become a seller.
It is just taking a really long time for the team to verify mi identity and
allow me to open my store. Currently when I try to open my store I am sent to
the new seller verification page where it shows I have completed my terms and
my shipping details but verification is still pending. It should not take this
long.

Now it’s going to take longer while they read Sylvain’s message.

Check this page to see if you can open your store:
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/management.page?

The email from BrickLink saying you could open may have been missed.

Feels your pain has been waiting about the same time frame here. Even sent
a message via the doc upload page a couple weeks ago that has gone answered.

Same here, waiting since a month, nothing happens. That's how a correct customer
service looking like, whom you pay substential fees based on your sales. I am
thinking about selling the wole BL store for peanuts, since I do not have the
will the be stressed by these sloths. But I am crossing my figers for you!
