| Curious as to why I had a second account (that I only used, rarely, to test-order
in my store) removed by admins, when I see others that blatantly advertise that
they have a second account. And, a second store with that second account. Why
allow that, and not allow me an account to test new features and the like in
my store?
Not entirely a rant, by the way. Genuinely curious.

I never saw those advertisements in the forum but I do not read all posts.
Maybe they do not have a second account on Bricklink (that isn’t allowed) but
at Brick🦉or somewhere else?

| Second BL account. I didn't find it on the forum, but rather was in a store,
and the first line in their terms is to the effect of " visit our other store
here!" and they give a link to another BL store, with the same name (albeit "new
parts" tacked on to the end), with the same account name (plus 2 on the end).
One store for used, one for new. I had seen that before, but not in while. The
bigger store has 2,700 or so feedback I believe, so the guy is not new.

There are a few where a husband has one account and the wife another. Then some
where a private individual has an account and the same individual's company
has an account. Some (local) friends also allow buyers to buy from both stores
for one shipping fee.

Yet this is also not allowed. I requested a second private account directly to
Russell in order to sell off my own personal childhood collection of used Lego
and was refused and so it seems I'm permenently restricted to only ever operating
as a business on Bricklink!

Bricklink has even told us in the forum that it is acceptable to have a second
account for the purposes of testing your own store. So it would be a very odd
reason to remove it for just that. Are you sure you haven't (accidentally)
posted stuff on the forum or left feedback under that account?

Maybe one admin saying something that another admin doesn't know about?
Policy made in the forum is nto a good diea since there is often no record of
it later on once the messages are removed. If they want to remove the ban on
second accounts then they should update the terms. They still state: You are
limited to one (1) account on this Site unless we have granted you permission
to have additional accounts, such permission being in our sole discretion.
Those rules indicate that you can only have one account unless you get permission
to have another (for whatever reason, even just for testing). If there is a general
rule that every seller is allowed a second account for testing only, that should
be given in the terms so everyone knows about it. If you still have to formally
ask for permission, then instructions on how to ask for that permission should
be in the terms. And obviously a record kept of it, so it is clear it is a testing
only account both to other members and staff.

Since Bricklink decided that the forum is pretty much the main and only form
of communication, I think we should take posts like these seriously and accept
them as policy. Russell refrains from making any statements on anything more
often than I can count, so whenever there is such a statement I take it seriously.
I think Bricklink is reasonable enough to allow them, as they are the ones who
decided not to put any sort of help or infrastructure in place to help sellers
testing their store which is of course essential to do. It's just that Bricklink
mistakes are fairly common, such as listings being removed for the wrong reasons.
Anyone who got their account removed for this reason, just point to this message
and I assume it will be ok.

| Admittedly, it's been gone for a few years. I believe I casually mentioned
in the forum that I had a second account, for testing, and the next day it was
merged with my main. I had never used it to leave feedback on my main, nor did
I use it in any other store. Talked with an admin via email about it for a while
(pre time when it took months to hear from them), and he would not say why it
was a problem, just that it was "against the terms", and if I persisted, I would
be banned altogether. I think I used that account maybe twice, to check auto-checkout
when it was first new, or something.

Correct. The restriction is (roughly speaking) that you use it to see what IC
is returning, and not to create orders with an actual order number. Creating
a real order could be interpreted as attempting to leave yourself feedback, which
has been a no-no on BL since way back in the beginning.

Assuming it's sarcasm expressed from what many others must also be feeling?
I'd like to say that I think that the Admin are doing an amazing job at threading-the-needle
information wise, with what has been a rapid pace of ongoing progressions or
advancements with the site.
I'm certain few could or would perform as they have, at the level they have
at this juncture in the site's progression. Kudos to Russell and the team.

Yet, if you report a user you can prove of doing so through the problem member
page, nothing happens.
This user also tried to circumvent my stop list with the second account, was
reported as well and crickets from BL admin.

There's other admin posts indicating that you have to ask the help desk for

It's ridiculous that BrickLink STILL has not found a 'legal' way
for sellers to check the settings in their own shop. Gee, it's not like shipping
and terms are complicated or anything.
Russell said publicly that test-only accounts would not be targeted for removal,
so please complain loudly and keep us updated!
Here's hoping we get more improvements around here.
