| I just received my first international order and it appears the shipping fee
will not cover the shipping charge. How do you handle international shipping
so it doesn't result in loss? What service do you use?

First disable international shipping until postage is configured correctly.
You can add only a manual invoice international shipping method.

I would only recommend using a manual invoice for international orders. Also,
if you use Pirate Ship for your labels you can live chat with them and ask to
activate the Simple Export Rate Shipping. This method is much cheaper if you
are looking to save money, but the tracking is only door-to-door for some countries.
Either way, I would recommend USPS First Class International.
Hope This Helps!

Is it really that unpredictable what shipping costs are going to be? IC offers
a good range of parameters, you should be able to formalize most things with
it. Would be a shame to toss out IC. Remember the shipping rates don't need
to match postage costs exactly.

There is no magic wand to international shipping. It is expensive. Back away
from international sales until such time as you have fully investigated those
charges.

The rates probably changed since you set them up
So its a double edged sword. If you do manual only, you will get LOTS of new
buyers that want to cancel. So def do not pull any times until after you
invoice them.
I find that IC is best for "small" interational orders (parts/figs). I set all
as many of my books and boxes/sets to Manual as I list them (if I remember) to
try to avoid issues with IC in the future.
No matter how well or often you state shipping cost, people will ignore it and
buy anyway, and IMO instant checkout saves me a ton of headaches from cancelations
even if I have to pay a little extra for undercharged shipping. That said if
you want to preserve your operating capital 100%, you'll have to deal with
the headache of manual invoicing. Pick your poison.

| Thank you, Crystal.
I'm new to this. Can you tell me what IC is? Also, I can't find "Manual
invoicing". Is there a way to make all international orders manual invoicing?
Thank you so much for your help!

Hi!
IC is just short for instant checkout, which you seem to already have setup.
If you go to your store shipping settings, you'll see a lightning bolt (IC)
or a calculator (manual) in the status column.
If you want it to always be manual, I believe you a have to setup a new shipping
method.
OR you can do as the other poster suggested and just adjust the prices in the
weight bands so it accounts for packing material weight.
Sorry its hard to explain without pictures I hope that helps.

| After glancing at your store, honestly since you only have like 30 sets for sale
( mean it wouldn't take long to change this) I personally would just change
all my med/large sets to "manual" in the listings and leave IC on.

International can be tricky because a small miscalculation can bump you from
an affordable $14 First class rate to a $38+ priority rate.
The rules are pretty straight forward until physics come in to play. For the
cheaper first class option you're allowed 36 inches on your dimensions, and
you're allowed up to a maximum 64 ounces (4 pounds).
However, the longest side can only be a maximum of 24 inches.
So 16x10x6, 12x12x12 and 24x10x2 would all be first class but add an inch anywhere
and it's priority.
Your weight bands are also very important because they rapidly go up and they
round to 1 pound increments. For a 24x6x6 package going to eastern Germany here
are the prices for the following weights according to Pirateship.com
8oz: $13.78
16oz: $23.28
32oz: $23.28
48oz: $38.00
64oz: $52.73
That 16-32oz band isn't a typo. Both cost $23.28 until you cross over 2
pounds and it jumps to $38. If you send it a little further east to Vienna,
the rates go up about $3-4 across the bands.
Like Adjour said above, you don't need to be spot on with the weight bands
since they are in one pound increments, but you should at least be aware of the
tare weight of your box and packaging and have that included in the package adjustments.
For sake of comparison, the USPS flat rate medium box itself weighs 6.4 ounces.

| Forgot to mention, quotes are coming in at 7-28 days for first class shipping
to europe right now, so I've been reaching out to confirm that that is acceptable
for the buyer before processing their order.
