Just curious how people ship out minifigs with capes. Do you leave the cape
in the minifig or do you take it off and leave it loose in the ziplock bag to
avoid any potential creasing/damage?

For Used minifigures, I ship the cape flat in its own size-fitting plastic bag
to prevent more creases. for New minifigures, I don't think the question
applies since I've never assembled a minifigures before selling it as New.

As I only sell new minifigs, capes and similar cloth parts stay off. And left
in the boxes if at all possible. I do normally assemble minifigs to ensure completeness
and reduce the chances of scratching of parts. All minifigs get sealed in a ziploc
bag.

I don't ship any of my minifigs assembled, so this means that the cape is
always "loose" however I don't just put it in the bag. All my minifigs
are packed and labeled for easier picking and those that have cape, I put a cut
piece of cardboard in to stiffen the package and allow the cape to stay and lay
flat without getting damaged in shipping

Off, with cardboard if the cape is not in its original box.

Some buyers are very picky with capes.

New, unassembled and obviously cape off.

Used, fully assembled.

New - unasembled
Used - leave it on the fig. Odds are that it was found in a huge box/bulk purchase
and spent years already assembled. Shipping it in a carefully packed box isn't
going to damage it further.

We always leave them off and put them into a separate 2"x 2" zip lock for both
new and used and we always iron out the used capes so they are nice and crisp
when they arrive to their new owner. We also put all figures unassembled into
their own marked zip lock (with the cape zip lock bag stapled to the figure's
zip lock bag) so that the new owner can have the fun of assembling them together.
