Just wondering what is craziest shipping trail you have seen? I have a good
one, package dropped off at Boston area post office for Australia Aug 9th. Still
not there, traveled to Poland, NY, Tokyo to Sidney & Melbourne only to be marked
as 'misdirected', sent back to NY and routed back to AU again on Sept
10th. No sign of it since. (This is why I insist buyers overseas must add
insurance). In this case the buyer and I are in contact and both of us are wondering
where it will turn up next.

My guess is it went to Poland because they thought the destination was Austria.
And maybe the same when it arrived in Australia (oh, another package for Sydney
in Austria!).

You may be right that they though Austria. I use stamps.com and I verified the
address with the buyer (and it was same in PP - Australia). If it doesn't
get there I will collect on the insurance and issue a refund. I am not sure
though how much longer to wait. Looking at the tracking we can see that items
can be sent from AUS to US in 24 hours, yet the package left on the 10th and
we haven't seen an update...

USPS won't allow me to open a missing package on 1st class international
shipments. The customer service said they can see only the same thing I can
on the tracking info.

This site often has more detail for int'l shipments than the USPS site:

You also have this going on:

CS is wrong or lying to you. Go to the post office in person, they have more
detail than what the USPS site shows.

If it's headed to Australia, good luck with that. They have basically shut
down everything but Priority Express mail due to receiving issues in Customs
there.
