| Hi,
I'm not sure exactly how to express my question so I will start with what
I already know how to do and hopefully the follow up question will make sense...
- I know when you search by your wanted list in a store it says the list(s) it
is from (and the quantity have/wanted)
- I know that you can have your ordered items added to your wanted list(s)
So the question is once I've placed an order is there a way to still see
which wanted list(s) the parts are for? If that makes sense?
Any help appreciated please.
Thanks

If you go to the catalog page of an item that is on one or more of your wanted
lists, (after selecting the correct color) you can select "Add To My Wanted List".
In the pop-up window, a heart will be placed next to any of the wanted lists
that include that part / color combination.

Thank you that’s very helpful (and useful) tip.

You can search your lists for the items in the order:
— Want | Search: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/search.page ,
Fill the field “Found in” (middle column, bottom) with the order number,
— or enable the “Items in Order on My Wanted List icon” here: https://www.bricklink.com/orderSettingsCols.asp?v=p
)
and then click on the new scroll icon in your order placed page https://www.bricklink.com/orderPlaced.asp
Making a list with your order helps here because:
1. at least one list will show for each lot in the order,
2. the “ordered” list will give you the ordered quantity, so you can check you
ordered enough and distribute the lot in the lists if you didn’t, without needing
to have the order open in another tab/window.

| Sylvain is correct and helpful, and I would like to add a caveat: If you have
items in your list with the color "Not Applicable" because you wanted to buy
the cheapest available color, they won't appear when you filter your wanted
list items by a specific order ID as items in orders always have a color set.

That’s where making a list with your order helps: there’s only the “ordered”
list that appears for these parts in N/A when you search for the order in your
WLs, so you wonder “why did I buy these?” and you then realize it’s because they
are in N/A in your WLs.
Yeah, it’s far-fetched

Thank you both for your very helpful advice. I’ve had a go and managed it successfully.
This is going to save me lots of time referencing my orders with wanted lists.
Thanks again

| I can't find a good reason to create a wanted list for a single order. In
my case I would lose the reason I wanted the parts in the first place since they
wouldn't be categorized by set or MOC anymore based on the wanted list name.

You don’t lose that info as it’s in your “Wanted” WLs.
While I’ve running orders, I have two sets of WLs:
— the “Wanted” WLs,
— temporary “Ordered” WLs, that allow me to easily edit the WWLs as explained
before and to wait for the orders to arrive.

| I'm going to have to play around with this, I think you might have just saved
me a bit of time each month.
