| Hello, I'm new to bricklink and I'm still trying to find my way around
the site, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm tryin to
buy something from a store in Denmark (I live in Brazil). However, the Order
Total price is more than double the sum of the item prices in the cart, and I'm
not sure why. It also says the shipping and handling is TBD, so that's not
what's inflating the price. What is it then?

This has happened to me a few times before when I placed an order with sellers
who do not have instant checkout. It's implied that the extra amount is part
of
S&H even though it says "+s&h + tax" next to order total. It says S&H will be
finalized once order is placed.
This is due to a (seller's) setting that allows a seller who has populated
the shipping costs in their shipping method(s), to show estimated fees to buyers.
This is what you are seeing.

So, if I actually checkout with the cart I won't have any unpleasant surprises?
And by that I mean, another shipping fee on top of the estimated one. I'm
only concerned because it's not specified anywhere that this is actually
the shipping estimated value, so I think this is kinda weird, or at least it's
phrased weirdly.

Any extra shipping and handling fees should be noted in the shop terms.
They could be different from what has been shown, especially if the shipping
costs haven't been updated recently.
You can also request a quote that would including the shipping fee before placing
an order. Click the “Request A Quote” button above/below the “Proceed to Checkout”
button. Please note that the Quote feature is only provided when the seller allows
it (You can contact the seller to get a shipping quote before placing the order
by clicking on the “Contact Store” tab in the seller’s store).

| This is often a good idea anyway if it's either a high value order or an
international one.
For high value ones it lets you get an idea of the attitude of the seller before
either of you are committed - if their response to a sincere quote request is
unhelpful then you probably don't want to be in a position of trying to resolve
a problem with them.
If it's an international order it gives the seller a chance to check they're
calculating shipping correctly - some sellers ship internationally all the time
but for some it's so rare that things can get out of date, and better to
avoid nasty surprises for either of you!
