You agree a trade and one side must go through a store.

I could trade new for old sets? How can I get someone interested in a trade?

Post here in the trade section stating I have ..... and I am looking for......

If someone is up for it and you agree on a trade, list the item you are trading
in your store. The other party places an order for the item and sends payment
in the form of their side of the trade.

So the trade is like a sale except instead of getting paid you get the set instead?

Yep… but there’s Sales taxes (and VAT) that BL has to collect now.  So one solution
is that the one who plays the buyer has to really pay and the other one, the
seller, has to refund on the side / not through BL, so that the fees are paid
to BL.
Otherwise the order can’t be completed on BL (stays as not paid).

Thank you for the info. Much appreciated.

What if you lock the store down and give them the password then set the set's
price to a cent?

You mess up the price guide and avoid paying BL fees.

Not necessarily though. Messing up the price guide, sure, but I believe that
charging only a cent would result in a final price of three cents because PayPal
fees and BL fees would probably add on a cent each.

Wasn't thinking of the price guide admittedly but while we're at it,
I'm interested to know if it's ever been a problem. Have users ever tried
to be malicious in that regard? Have they ever tried to pass, say, an imaginary
Green Grocer betweens alts enough times to crash its value in the guide? Seems
pointless but curious.

That is not how the price guide works. If you pay 1c for the part, 1c is entered
in the price guide. Any other fees added to the order don't go in the price
guide. BL fees are charged on the order amount before fees. So if you pay 1c,
0.03c BL fees (that is, nothing) are charged.

I was already aware of the distinction between the price listed in the guide
and the actual price paid. You said one would avoid paying BL fees and I stated
that they'd likely get added on in the lowest denomination possible.

If you trade a $800 set for another $800 set Bricklink wants fees on the $800
set, since it's a selling site. You can try trading on other sites like marketplace,
ect.

You use a selling platform what cost money . So a seller have to pay a fee .
