  Hello,
question, does the plain ol 2 x 4 brick actually come in pink? I listed one in
error, someone bought it and then notified me that it was not pink, that it was
"bright Pink" cool, i refunded them and apologized for my inventory error,

but my bigger question is this, why did the system assign a picture of that
part in "pink" to the listing when "pink" is not listed in the known colors for
that part?

i checked the catalog and the 2 cx 4 is not shown as being in the inventory of
any set.
usually, if I list a part in a color that is not in the known color list, there
will be no image on the listing.. sooooo what gives ?

was there really a 2 x 4 brick made in "pink"?

Sorry for the old picture, but here is my 2x4 brick (I don’t have it to hand
at the moment)

"Known Colors" isn't actually a list of all the colors that are "known" to
exist, but only those "known" to have appeared in a set. And there are many parts
in colors that have never appeared in any set, and stores on BrickLink that specialize
in them.

"Known Colors" isn't actually a list of all the colors that are "known" to
exist, but only those "known" to have appeared in a set.

To be precise: “known” = is in an inventory (set, gear…), and it’s automatically
populated from inventories.

Yep, and when wanting to know if a part exists, you best check that:
1. there’s a picture, preferably a photo, of the part,
2. the stores that have some are experienced and that it’s not a listing error.

Pink, and the pink used in Paradisa sets, is subtly different, so beware.

3001 in pink is known, 3001 in Paradisa pink isn't (only as test brick).

Let's try that discussion a little differently ... p/n 3001 in Paradisa Pink
was never (knowingly) in a released set. But it may have existed as a test brick
or something made available to the model shops. The catalog says that Paradisa
sets ranged from 1992 to 1997.

The first set inventoried with a p/n 3001 in Bright Pink was

Set No: 4518 Name: Creator Value Pack
*
4518-1 (Inv) Creator Value Pack
805 Parts, 2004
Sets: Creator: Basic Set

That was one, of a sequence, of bonus part sets between late 2003 and into 2004.
Some of the parts, including p/n 3005 which I sold, and was confirmed as being
Paradisa Pink, came from

Set No: 4562 Name: Creator Value Pack
*
4562-1 (Inv) Creator Value Pack
200 Parts, 2004
Sets: Creator: Basic Set

Some of the random parts in the bonus part sets were overstock that had been
sitting around any of the various TLG packaging facilities (or perhaps the model
shops).

That 4518-1 was issued before p/n 3001 in Bright Pink had ever been issued
in any known set, makes me suspicious about which pink it actually was. There
are none available for sale, and the person who did the original inventory is
reputable, but that was before Bright Pink was otherwise seen. If anyone out
there has a 4518-1, I would be curious about which pink it is.

That sucks. While no one wants to receive parts that are the wrong color, since
you gave the buyer a full refund, I don't see why you deserve negative feedback.
Mixing up colors is a common thing to do, especially with pink and purple.

Reading the feedback they left it is obvious why they left the negative. It
feels like nothing other than sending the correct parts would change it from
a negative and it might not even then. Even if it was corrected 100% with the
colors they ordered they might leave a negative. Feedback is based on how they
felt about the transaction, some people are less forgiving of mistakes than others.

Still, when ordering parts that are ultra rare, the onus is on the buyer to ensure
the seller knows what they are selling. I have sent comparison pictures to the
seller BEFORE buying to ensure that the seller has what I am looking for ...most
of the time, the sellers can confirm they have it, and sometimes they admit they
have a listing error ....and sometimes they just don't have a clue.

I found this thread while trying to find more info on pink.

Just wanted to clarify why I initially left a negative:

1. There were other pink parts in the order. The seller categorized a pink fence
correctly as paradisa pink (paradisa pink in the notes for the part), and there
was also a pink sink in the order, neither of which matched the 3001 (the only
other pink part in the order being a dark pink hat).

2. The seller sent me a medium blue 3001 instead of a sand blue 3001.

It was a rather small order (12 unique lots) and the parts most important to
me were wrong. For me, most orders consist of a few important parts which are
what direct a sale to a particular seller in the first place.

Also, when there were 10 or less sellers with a part, I was contacting beforehand.
If there were only like 50 sellers with a part, I would put something in the
notes when purchasing. In this case, I had "Please confirm 2x4 pink bricks are
pink and not paradisa pink or bright pink." in the notes when I placed the order.

As I've been running into more and more problems, I've learned that's
not nearly careful enough--even with colors that aren't all that uncommon.

Or refunding more than just those parts. You ever place an order because a seller
had 1 part you needed? Only to find out that part was wrong or even missed?
This happened to me buying a hard to find part, the one I went to the store
for was forgotten. I explained that but the seller didn't care, they gave
me a refund for the part. So now I have an order of parts I figured I'd
add on, and I still need to order the part I wanted, but that $.25 refund is
supposed to make me fine with it?

It is just mediocre customer service. If this happens in my store at the very
least the buyer gets the part and shipping refunded, but 99% of the time I'll
just order the part and then send it along. I have had sellers do this for my
orders, and I don't care how much extra time it takes, I am happy with my
transaction!

update on the negitive feedback over the "pink" bricks
after contacting the buyer and really hearing his frustration, we came to a
good solution He is a decent guy and is creating a lego color charts using the
2 x 4 bricks.

Sounds like a very cool project. he removed the neg feedback, I know that people
who love lego are really good people. they have maybe had bad experiences that
frustrate them.
so that made my day!

It really iS a simple LEGO WORLD!

happy dance!
