| Look its really simple....you will sell 10k without blinking so you need to double
the amount available for starters.....next you need to reduce the max number
of each set to 2 (should be 1 really however 2 covers people with no internet
or whatever) and you will have negated the need for this forum before it even
started......there are other things you can do but these two will save so much
heartache and they are so easy to do.
thanks

Here's an idea, why not make the instructions available for a fee. The 1st
5000 that were crowfunded could come with some sort of certificate to show they
are "original" Anyone one else who wants it can then source all the bricks via
bricklink.
Costs TLG nothing.

They would probably have to renegotiate contracts with all the designers. Plus
at least one of them already released instructions for their original submission.
LEGO would look pretty crappy trying to sell electronic instructions when they
usually give them away free especially if they have already been given away free.

I like this idea. They can make / print paper copies of the instructions, with
the original 5,000 getting a certificate and a number (I.e. Number 1/5,000) to
show its authenticity and that they came with a limited set. They can then renegotiate
with the designers, with designers having the right to opt out, and sell the
additional instructions for a fee in either paper or electronic copy. For designers
that choose to opt-in, let’s say if each designer gets 10% and TLG sells 100,000
copies of instructions of a set worldwide (can be easily achieved for at least
some of the sets) for $10 each. That’s another $100k for the designer and easy
money for TLG. Everyone gets what they want. Why not?

So now they must print an extra 5000 booklets per set that were not planned,
they have to print certificates and then someone has to humber them? If someone
wants to prove they have one of the first 5000 sets, then keep the box. Better
yet, don't open it, it is worth it's weight in gold.

Sure, sure we’ll keep the boxes for sure too. But the added hard copy of instructions
and certificate can add even more value to the set. So why not? Plus, it’s
also a way to differentiate those who paid for the set and those who didn’t.
What do you think the reaction of the buyers of these sets are going to be if
they get the same PDF file of the instructions as those who only paid for the
instructions? Upset, if not downright boycotting of any future purchases. I mean,
it sounds silly but it does make a difference. When you paid $150-200 for something.
You expect getting than those who paid a lot less.
As for printing instructions for extra 5,000 sets and the certificates, that’s
a small task for TLG if they want to do it. Remember, this is a multi Billion
dollar company we’re talking about here. Sure, the proceeds from the instructions
will be a drop in the bucket for them, but that also saves them having to make
extra sets to meet the demand and appease people who did not get the sets and
stop their complaints.

Methinks that if TLG went the electronic only way, it’s because they have good
reasons (I’m guessing mainly time related reasons but that doesn’t change anything
for what you want).

I doubt it is worth them, printing small runs of 5000 instructions. Their team
would gave to typeset all of them to lego, not worth it for these sets. As I
understand it, it will not even be a pdf but app only.
People shouldn't complain if they just get electronic instructions, as it
was made clear these were going to be electronic before buyers ordered the sets.
Why should a lego set need a certificate, unless this is a collectable?
Why would lego care if a few people are unhappy with not getting instructions
and boycott buying further sets, when those sets sell out within a day?

I think they should complain because, even if they didn't get a set this
round, they are communicating what could be done better for the next.

Because LEGO means more than just one sale, or even one set, and I bet they care
about how people feel about their company. If everyone doesn't speak up and
speak out, how can things improve?
