| Hello! I and a few others have fallen victim to a scam on Bricklink.
We found a seller with 65 new sw0450 (P2 Captain Rex), listed at $65 each minifigure.
Fishy and too good to be true, yes, but you miss 100% of the deals you don't
snag! Not to mention, this seller also was new and only had 1 Positive Feedback.
So I put an order for 6 Minifigures and waited, and to my surprise, the order
was shipped with tracking! A few days before receiving, I see that another buyer
had left a negative FB stating it was a scam and that the minifigs were fake.
With all hope lost of receiving real LEGO, I waited for the arrival of the parcel
so that I could start a PayPal claim.
Lo and behold I received the order. Open it and find 6 fake/knockoff plain P1
Clone Troopers (with real LEGO blasters). 3 of them had blue marker on the helmet
fins (haha).
So messages via BL did not work. I filed a claim with PayPal and the seller responded
to PayPal saying "I don't understand, he got what he payed for." PayPal states
once I return and upload tracking to PayPal, and it gets marked delivered, I
will have my refund sent to me automatically. I also filed a NSS.
Couple side facts/thoughts,
1. He isn't a new seller and he just made an another account to snatch $4,225
quick via the scam. I think this because he updated the orders and fulfilled
them with no hiccups. drive thru, invoices, packed/shipped statuses, ect.
2. He will probably attempt to say I sent him fakes in return.
3. Others have ordered other minifigs listed as new from him and have received
them in used condition along with fake p1 clones substitutions.
It's all just kinda bizarre that it's like a half scam. I am not sure
how you could confuse sw0442
with sw0450. Yes, all the red flags were there and I should not have ordered.
But I felt if it was true, I'd be kicking myself for not getting them. The

+1
I also placed an order with this store in the hopes that it wasn't a scam,
but at this point, it is certainly a scam. My package will most likely arrive
tomorrow.

| Wow. Quick way to scam over $4000. Couple of points:
Can’t bricklink code be updated to detect these extremely unlikely listings of
large quantities of rare figs at well below market price?
Shouldn’t these orders be deleted from historical pricing? They’re going to
screw up 6 month averages

| Not reliably, and then BrickLink would have to deal with the false positives.
It already is hard enough to explain to angry sellers who got listings rightfully
pulled why, so it probably wouldn't be worth it.

| Would be easy to put something in place to prevent the obviously suspicious,
but yes harder if you want zero false positives. Could require a photo for example.
But this one was extremely obvious as it was someone adding more than double
the worldwide quantity available at 1/3 of the price all at once.

The vast majority of USPS parcels come with free tracking, so that doesn't
surprise me. You may want to check the label to see what zip it was shipped from,
and note if that (significantly) disagrees with where they claim to be located.

I find it slightly surprising that one buyer left this seller positive FB, and
only days before the roof caved in. I wonder if that buyer even understands what
they received.

Not sure what you're talkin about with free postage. But his address matched
the return address.

Let's put it this way: All packages shipped via USPS have a tracking number.
So, I would be more surprised if the package did not ship with tracking.
Of course, sellers are not required to input the tracking number into BrickLink.

be more of a quick cash grab, then the long dragged out mess we have now.

And that's his plan. Even with paying postage, he still gets a ton of money
off of this scam, and it's harder/takes a bit longer for the buyer to get
their money back, allowing more people to fall for the scam before being caught.
