Hello, sorry, I am new to Bricklink and am looking to purchase a set of legos,
much like the standard Lego "Classic" set. I am really just looking to augment
my son's current set of legos. I can't quite tell how to find randomly
created sets like that on the market.

I am also looking for random minifigures. I don't need specific ones, just
a bunch (~10?).

Please help point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Chris.

Here are a list of classic sets by year, latest first:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catString=423&sortBy=Y&sortAsc=A&catType=S&v=1

The minifigures are a bit harder since they are broken down into sub categories,
like the collectable minifugures in blind bags:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catString=746&catType=M&v=1

Good luck on your search!

macebobo is right about finding Classic sets on BrickLink, I would also suggest
you check the LEGO.com website as well for the current Classic set since they
offer free shipping above $35:

If you don't care which minifigures you buy and are primarily interested
in selection and price, you will want to make sure you search stores that have
all of what you need to minimize the amount spent on shipping. One way to do
that is to search for stores that have a lot of minifigures. This is a search
of all stores in the US, sorted by number of new minifigure lots they have:
https://www.bricklink.com/storeResults.asp?sMM=6&sDD=8&sYY=2021&itemNo=&itemSeq=1&breakType=M&sortBy=1&q=&itemType=M&catID=&colorID=&itemYear=&invNew=N&sellerLoc=C&countryID=US®ionID=3&shipTo=Y&shipCountryID=US&moneyTypeID=1&pmtMethodID=

To start, open one of the stores and select the minifigures category on the left,
then sort by price. You can then select 10 (add them to the cart, don't
check out) that seem interesting for comparison. Do this in four or five more
stores, and you can start getting an idea of what the cheapest minifigures will
cost from a single store. In each cart, you can also see what the shipping will
be. Some stores don't offer Instant Checkout on minifigures so you would
need to contact them if you want to investigate further.

Once you're happy with which store and minifigures you want to buy, check
out from that particular store, which will include shipping and tax.

I have well over ten thousand random minifigures sold in bulk. Knock your socks
off. They are listed in my "Custom Items" section.

I'd recommend the somewhat recent Creative Transparent Bricks (11013). My
younger kids (8 and 13) loved it.

I have many inexpensive minifigures available in my store - about 80 under $1.50
