| A message to the bricklink-Administration:
The German "Verpackungsgesetz" ("Packaging Law") has been changed.
I am not a lawyer, but there is one important change that - maybe - is affecting
bricklink:
If bricklink acts as an Online Marketplace (and I guess that is the fact if you
see all the changes concerning US-taxes, UK-VAT,...), from next year on, bricklink
has to make sure that all German sellers are licensed to the LUCID-platform (platform
for licensing packaging material used by sellers). Otherwise bricklink as the
responsible Online Marketplace could get "draconic penalties" (words used by
a German law firm) by the German authorities.
Again: I am not a lawyer - maybe I made a mistake in interpreting that text.
But it could be a good idea that bricklink checks the upcoming legal obligations.
There is enough time: the changes come into effect in July 2022.
But we all followed how long the implementation of UK-VAT lasted - I would not
love it if German sellers are banned by bricklink after the first penalty because
of that changes in law.
Please bricklink, start now to check your upcoming obligations - not in July
2022.
Best regards
Stefan

Is to remove plastic in packaging? Would applaude that. But it would require
to reconsider LEGO packaging big time.
Thanks for the heads-up,
Marco

| Not only plastic. You have to register every kind of packaging material that
you use: Paper, plastic, glass,...
And of course you have to pay fees to recycling companies for that amounts of
packaging material

Interesting. I have attempted to find something similar in The NL found a site
with regulations but not something like LUCID. Not yet, because if this is an
EU regulation I assume it will be implemented in all EU countries?

| It is a German law, but based on a EU decision from the 1990s.
Every EU country did something different to reduce packaging material - Germany
constructed a bureaucratic monster. This monster is growing even more in the
next years after the actual changes...
