After nearly 100 orders placed on BrickLink, I finally found a feature I was
missing.

In the My Order Settings :: Orders Placed Column page¹, there is an option
disabled by default named "Items in Order on My Wanted List Icon". This icon
is a shortcut to fill the "Found in Order ID" field of the wanted list search
and allows to manually fill the relevant wanted lists from items found in a specific
order.

I used to have to wade through 20+ wanted lists to sort the parts from each received
order, now it's going to be much easier, especially since the "Add Order
Items to My Wanted List" button on the order page was either broken for me or
inadequate beyond a few active wanted lists.

Hurray!

Well, actually, it’s only (a very useful) shortcut to the Wanted List Search
page ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/search.page ), with the order number
already filled, so one can search your WLs without that link / icon / column
/ setting.

This... is exactly what I said:

But...
I'll have to change each quantity one by one, and it didn't tell me the
number I bought. I'll need a 2nd monitor to get numbers from?!?

That’s why you need to make a “bought” WL for each order: when you search for
the order, each lot has at least one result in the WLs, and that result shows
you how many you bought.

I agree it isn’t 100% convenient but:
- Not all orders are 100% complete
- The “Apply Order Items ro Wanted List” doesn’t remember the items that were
assigned on another wanted list

Both of these factors make any automatic process error-prone, and the feature
I discovered will help with my manual process. On my 16:9 screen, I can have
the order list on one half to check the package contents, and the wanted lists
on the other half.

I agree it could be useful in some scenarios, I'll keep it around to try.

Do you abuse that edit mode to insert links to the orders?

I do not. Like I said, until today I had the wanted list search page on the left
screen, and the order I was verifying/sorting on the right. As I went through
the inventory of the package, checking with the order on the right, I would fill
the Have quantity on the left.

Out of my 19 recent orders, there were 4 with missing/broken/wrong mold/wrong
color parts, so I do have to go through that manual process. However, wading
through 20+ wanted lists to find the correct item to fill wasn't fun, and
this feature will filter my wanted list to only the items that could be filled
with the order I'm verifying are shown, cutting the scrolling/paging time.

These 19 orders were generated by the Auto-Select feature in the Wanted List
Buy page, so I had no idea exactly which wanted lists were satisfied by which
orders.

Maybe it's a niche improvement, but it still is an improvement!

Exactly on point!
I'm going to use it to fix "Apply order"
Last order was: 1 missing panel & 1 bitten brick. I had to retroactively find
the affected lists, then decrease the qty on several points.
This feat you unearthed will do great in this scenario.

Excellent, I was hoping my benign find would help someone else!
