Hi

If I've read the latest e-mail from eBay correctly - they are going to stop
payments into Paypal and pay into your bank account instead.

If less money is going into paypal accounts, will it stop some buyers from purchasing
on Bricklink ? I know you can pay thru debit/credit cards on Paypal, but those
using their balance to buy will it affect them?

I'm not exactly following... are you saying that you think buyers are sellers
on eBay so because they have less money in their PayPal balances, they will buy
less on BL? The eBay thing is just them doing the payment processing directly
without using PayPal instead (so they make the money on the payment processing
rather than PayPal). I don't see any correlation with BrickLink.

The eBay payment processing has already been in place for a while now for US
and Canada. Many buyers don't actually have a balance sitting in PayPal anyways.
That's more of a seller thing to spend money they have sitting in their account.
Buyers usually use it to pay via debit/credit as you mentioned.

I've been transfered over to ebay managed payments for some time now and
its a good thing overall as by cutting out paypal it saves ebay sellers around
1% in their overall selling fees. ebay essentially hold the paypal account and
transfer the money directly to your bank account instead just as you have pointed
out but by people not having as many funds in their paypal accounts won't
affect anything as when your paypal balance reaches zero the funds are taken
straight from your linked bank account instead

eBay has been forcing sellers to on-board into managed payments, but I had not
heard anything about PP being disallowed. If they cut PP out of the picture,
it's going to hurt them in the long run.

To be honest I would'nt be surprised if it works out good for both parties
because its not as if ebay are not accepting paypal payments on their platform
and so paypal are still taking their cut but now they only have to deal directly
with ebay with regards to the ebay transactions which may help free up some of
their resources compared with having to deal directly with lots of different
end users and from ebays point of view they now have better control over the
tranactions from start to finish which I think is what they wanted in order to
have better control over transaction disputes etc...

I tend to withdraw any PayPal balances. It's free to withdraw to a bank account.

I get what your asking. I used to only buy new stuff using money in my PayPal
account that I earned by selling old stuff. Now that eBay sends me my money directly,
I tend to be more cautious with what I buy since the money comes straight from
my bank account when I use PayPal.

I know logically there's no difference, but it was nice to have that balance.
