When listing catalogue items by number, the list appears by color, but the colors
appear in no discernable order. It would save a lot of searching time if they
appeared in alphabetical order, the same as they do in inventories. Is this possible?

Can you upload a screenshot so that we can understand what you're seeing?

At the top of the Bricklink home page there is a search box. If you set that
to search the catalog, and enter a part number for a search, you will get a list
ordered by color, but the colors are not in alphabetical order - why not? If
you are looking for a commonly used part, the list can be very long indeed, and
you have to scroll until you find the color you want.
