So Hinge Brick 1x4 Swivel 3830c01 is marked for deletion. Only individual male
and female parts will be listed going forward (3830, 3831). Yet, the plate version
(2420c01) remains intact and looks to remain as a single part in the system.

Why remove 3830c01? These parts are designed to be joined together and primarily
used that way. Is there an alternative # that will be included going forward
with the joint parts together?

3830c01 never came assembled in a New set, only 3830 and 3831 are found in New
sets.
Also, 3830c01 can’t be sold New: as you need to assemble 3830 and 3831 to make
one, they become Used.

2429c01 never came disambled in a set.  It only comes assembled in New sets.

So, even if their forms are similar, you can’t compare these parts to decide
or argue what to do with them in the catalogue.

Of course, I made an error with the bold….

In Catalog, SylvainLS writes:
  First, a correction:

“Disassembled” of course.
(Phew, careful with the bold or I would have had to cancel my own message )

Then, to clarify and answer a couple PMs:

I didn’t say there’s no parts in the catalogue that are assemblies that never
came assembled in New sets and that this one would be the only one and therefore
to be deleted.

I didn’t say such (counter)parts shouldn’t be in the catalogue to allow them
to be sold as Used parts / in Used sets.

I didn’t say 3830c01 couldn’t be compared to such counteparts.

And I didn’t say there’s no other policies that should be reviewed (like the
minifigures tha can be assembled by the seller and stay New).

Actually, I didn’t answer at all on why 3830c01 was marked for deletion.

What I said was:

That’s all.

IOW, if one wants to argue about this deletion, one needs to bring valid arguments.
And, AFAICT, the valid arguments have already been beaten to death in the several
threads there have already been on this subject.

I guess it’s because LEGO ships 3830, 3831 separately in their new sets, but
3830c01 always arrived assembled?
