Our shop abandoned using the order details page about 5 years ago in favor of
a homegrown version. It would be nice if BL offered an alternative way of showing
the order items similar to this (I intentionally say "alternative way" as I am
sure there are many people who don't want to have this page changed).

Our order detail page shows each lot as a little picture of the item, with "amount
ordered" - "new/used" - "item ID" - "color" below it, and "inventory left" (see
first pic) (we also have a red border around "new" items to have them stand out
as we mainly sell used items). The page shows 10 lots in a row, and when printed,
shows 10 rows on the first page (so 100 lots on the first page), and 120 lots
on subsequent pages.

Also, with just one additional field in the "order items table" (called "status"
or something similar) you can add some serious useful functionality to the order
details page. When you pick an order with the BL order details page, you can
use the check boxes in front of the items to keep track of what you picked. Until
you (for whatever reason) refresh the page. Boom. All checks are gone. With that
additional database field, BL can keep track of the "status" of an order item.
We use 4 different statuses - "none", "picked", "packed" and "error". In the
first pic you can see the first two items shown green ("picked"), and the other
4 items white (status "none").

Using this database field makes the "colors" ("statuses") of the lots persistent
- you can break for coffee and continue where you left off, you can load the
order on a different device etc.

At the top right we have a quick view of the state of the entire order (see second
pic) - this order has a total of 44 lots, all lots except 4 have been picked,
and no errors found. If you were to add a second field to the order items table
(something like "note"), you can add notes to a lot. See third pic - here we
have a lot where there is an issue (status is "red") with an indicator at the
top-left of the item pic which corresponds to a note at the bottom of the order
details page.

We use a print of this page as our picking list in our orders - no serious deforesting
needed, and annotated lots when there is the occasional issue.

Just some thoughts in case BL wants to revamp the order details page. I am available
if BL needs some technical assistance.

(We don't use the "remarks" field for order picking as we have our inventory
stored by category, but it is easy to change what is shown below each lot picture.
Also, our version packs some more functionality, like if you click on the picture,
you get a popup with the an overview of that item in all colors with amount sold,
amount in inventory, links to inventory history, appearance in sets etc - there
is so much functionality that can be added to the order details page.)

If anyone has any questions or need more pics, feel free to shoot me a message
(and no, this "product" is not easily portable, so we can't supply it to
other shops right now).

Niek.

I'd love to see more pics or chat about what you did to make things easier
and quicker to work with. I am working on a store manager myself and my order
list/picker looks a lot like the BL one, you can also close it and open it on
another device without losing progress (or even pick with multiple devices).

Already thanks for the insight into your system, it is really helpful!

Kind regards,
Erwin

Our page intentionally diverts from the BL one in that it shows the lots as little
images arranged in a grid. It is geared towards picking orders efficiently and
is ready to print as a picking list.

To make it compact, it only shows info that we need for each lot which, for us,
is "amount", "new/used", "item ID", "color" and "inventory left". Anything else
is available "further down" - like the full item description ("Brick, 2x4") shows
when you hover over a picture.

Other info shows up when you click on the picture, like in the first pic attached.
This popup shows more details for this lot, as well as options to:

- Add a comment to the lot;
- Open up an inventory popup for this item (in all its colors);
- Open a popup showing the changes in the inventory for this particular item;
- Open a popup to show in which sets it appears (if any);
- Open a popup to show what parts it is made of (if any);
- Open a popup to show previous orders for this item.

The most info is in the "inventory" popup, see second pic. This shows the item
and all colors it comes in in sets. Columns:

- Diff - Shows inventory changes over time;
- PG - Shows price guide;
- App - Shows which sets it comes in;
- For both new and used, it shows sales, and current inventory;
- For both new and used, it shows prices for our sales, inventory price, and
L6MS.

The inventory changes over time show a graph, and clickable links whenever an
inventory change happened, see third pic.

[tl/dr] There is a lot of info and functionality that can be added to BL to make
things easier for the seller.

Nice! I must say the order detail page works alright for me, but I can totally
relate to the need to take matters in your own hands because Bricklink is not
always customisable and user friendly enough. Bricklink definitely needs input
from sellers, because it's clear that the people who make Bricklink do not
have much experience using Bricklink (and they're actually quite open about
that).

My inventory sorted by category alphabetically and divided over 4 picking sections.
I recently made a tool that is basically a copy of the Orders Received page,
with 4 columns for how many lots each order has at each of the 4 sections. That
way I can sit down at the first chair, see which orders have lots in that section,
pick them, mark that section as done, move to the next chair, pick the lots there,
etc.

I'm totally in favour of more customisation, though I also am not entirely
sure how to do that and what to prioritise. My example is very specific for my
own shop and probably not useful for other shops. It'd take some serious
thinking and brainstorming to figure out which features would be widely useful
and generic enough to tailor to different store strategies. And I am not going
to invest any energy in that department until Bricklink is going to make it an
official project

I voted yes for this, but wouldn't want something exactly like this, but
something more customizable in general.
