| Hey folks!
Buyers can't see their cart weight unless they enable some obscure option.
Why is that option even not enabled by default? Why can't I, as a seller,
force buyers to see their cart weight in my store?
This means that if buyers aren't aware that this option exists, they have
to guess the weight, ask the seller continuously as they add batches, or request
a bunch of quotes.
Why force this upon ourselves when the website can automatically do it for us?
I suggest we allow sellers to show cart weights to their buyers, even if the
buyers haven't enabled that option.
Thanks for voting!

| This is a great suggestion too, but also requires that sellers have enabled the
same feature in their store. If you are an engaged seller as you appear to be,
then this may not be an issue, however, as I have learned from my suggestion,
there are sellers who have chosen to disable the display of cart weight for buyers.
So, in my opinion, the ability to display cart weight should be permanently displayed
with a disclaimer that some or all weights may not have been verified as accurate,
and that the cart weight is a guide only.
Miffy.

Agree. But, as we worked out in other topics, I think the reason this whole weight
feature is not getting center stage, is because it is supposedly not 100% accurate.
First order of business is to get that 100% accurate. Next step is to make it
the (obligatory) standard.
There will be new parts added to the catalog all the time so it will never be
"complete". In case an order/cart/whatever contains items that do not yet have
a weight, the weight calculation could switch off for that particular situation
automatically (or come with a "warning: part so and so is not included in this
weight"). All other weights should be verified and presented as correct and trustworthy.

But! Let cart weights please come with a warning about packaging material weight.
I remember having to explain this to several disappointed buyers who took their
order weight very literally.

Three more member votes, two of which are forum regulars that took the time
to vote in the affirmative for your suggestion, without putting their names to
it here in the forum.
In any case there are a few more that have yet to reply. I did what I could.
I can't spend anymore time at it, though.
Good Luck

I'm obviously I favor of having cart weight displayed since it is necessary
in my store for Instant Checkout to work well.
At a minimum cart weight should be on be default. If letting store diasable it
continues to be allowed maybe there should be a replacement text in place of
the weight that says "seller has disabled cart weight". Keeping things confusing
for buyers is a bad idea.
|
Apparently there IS an icon for this - according to the store settings page info
- but I cannot see it.
Miffy.

| Wow, that really is a hard option to find. I won't vote on this idea, but
I can't imagine many people finding that tiny text link. The other routes
to it seem to result in a dead page (my bl settings) or broken link (help docs).
