| Please revise the catalog policy by removing this restriction to the catalog
from:
"Items that should not be added to the catalog:", Section 1, on this page:
http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=71
"Also, do not submit items which have been verified as never released, even if
a picture is available."
There is already a large list of unreleased sets on bricklink. There is no reason
why more should not be allowed to be added, so that bricklink can remain the
most complete Lego database. (Otherwise, what's the point to even having
the current list???)
And there is no reason why people should not be able to buy and sell these sets
even if the boxes and instructions were not officially released (since many of
these sets can be fully made from the released pieces).
(NOTE: This is not a catalog request, or anything of the sort -- this is
a post which is to be voted on by the community and for the head administration
to see in the SUGGESTIONS for them to possibly implement.)
Thank you for your consideration,
Andy

Yes, the catalog adminstrators refuse to add more sets to that category when
I have submitted them multiple times. The submission is immediately deleted.
Also, I am not allowed to sell sets in the unreleased category, even if all of
the parts are available and I can make a used set to sell.

If LEGO decided that the sets are not good enough to sell, why should we pretend
they were official sets? Maybe the only place where they belong is in the MOC
shop.
Or am I missing something here?

I don't believe anyone wants to pretend they were official sets, but the
Unreleased Sets section of the BrickLink catalog is very useful since many of
them have official LEGO set images:

Having the images in the catalog is one thing, creating inventories and selling
them is something else.

Agreed. I'm definitely for having and being able to add to the Unreleased
Sets section, so I support that part of the suggestion. I question the wisdom,
however, of adding inventories for unreleased sets.
