I've just closed my store, and went to verify my closed message, and instead
saw the 29 minute doomsday message any prospective buyers would see, with zero
inventory to choose from in the highly likely event an active shopper was not
finished shopping.

If my understanding of the logic is correct, this situation would be unpleasant
for anyone whose shopping is interrupted -- 29 minutes and you're stuck
with what you have and no more, i.e. do you want the present unfinished cart
(assuming quantity changes are allowed) or not?

Above is a BrickLink administrator message, and not mine. My closed message
is simply, "Please contact me if needed to finish up an order.".

While no closure interruption is pleasant, I believe my approach is more courteous
than BrickLink's take-it-or-leave-it one.

If I've misinterpreted the added process (Do Store Settings work yet?), apologies.

I suggest allowing sellers to open and close our stores without having to explain
ourselves to BrickLink (e.g. "Other"), and letting us handle potentially interrupted
shoppers, rather than giving them 30 minutes to take-it-or-leave-it.

Maybe a feature could be added where the sellers can choose a time frame for
buyers to shop and the cart be active.

When I close to catch up or "other", I recently started putting a note in the
announcement and banner sections that my shop will close at X o'clock. Now
I know they have 30 minutes to finish up after I click on close. I didn't
know this feature existed, thanks for bringing it up!

The whole inventory remains available with at least one item in the cart.

I should have checked this first, and did not.

Apologies.

Never mind my post below. Inventory is back to zero with myself as an active
test shopper in my own store, despite having one item in my cart.

My original post is valid, based on what I can test at least, and I suggest BrickLink
administrators drop this take-it-or-leave-it approach.

Or add a way to see how many shoppers are browsing your store? That doesn't
exist does it?
