| BL should create a uniform fee disclosure template that will appear on each seller's
Store Terms page. It should be the same format for every store, and once sellers
enter the various fees into their store settings the chart would automatically
populate and appear on the seller's page.
ONLY fees that are clearly disclosed on the chart could be included in an invoice,
and a buyer would have the right to cancel any order when invoiced with undisclosed
fees, without fear of receiving negative feedback. Same for sellers who cancel
orders when the buyer cancels over fees that were validly charged.
Here's an idea of what a chart COULD look like; anything clear and uniform
works, not unlike the fee disclosure information that must be included with credit
card and home mortgage offers in the US:

This is almost identical to what I proposed almost two years ago. See:

Voted yes, of course. As long as it does not morph into over-simplified and
over-broad checkboxes that are then used to inaccurately narrow down search results
to the detriment of buyers and sellers alike.
But yeah... Put all this uniformly and clearly right up front in the shop terms,
AND in the checkout page.

| Most of it wouldn't bother me. But average shipping and invoice time. Who
fills that in? Automatic or the seller?
And why average? If you have shipping average of 1 day, then if you ship 9 orders
in an hour do you get a whole week to ship the tenth order? After all, you'd
still meet your average.
I'd prefer to see a guaranteed invoice / shipping time.

Automated would be a nice feature, but could be harder to implement. If the seller
just fills out the average times themselves - and honestly - that should be good
enough. If sellers are consistently taking longer than their self-declared average
times to process/ship orders, I think that buyer-posted feedback would eventually
sort that out.
As far as guaranteed invoice/shipping times, I'm skeptical of putting 'guarantee'
on anything. I'm not expecting buyers to 'guarantee' payment to me
within 5 days of sending invoice. It would be nice, but doesn't always happen,
and often there are good reasons for delays. As long as buyers and sellers are
communicating with each other regarding delays (and it goes both ways), I don't
see the need for this.

| So a seller puts one day shipping, and then takes three for every order. He can
just say sorry to each buyer that their order took a little longer than average.
They don't know any different. Without BL monitoring this (like the eBay
star ratings), it is unlikely to get found out. So the seller can pretend to
be fast to appear attractive to people that want fast processing, when in reality
they are not.
And guarantee in this sense doesn't mean it won't happen. Just that there
are consequences if it doesn't. So if a seller guarantees an invoice within
24 hours, then the buyer could have the right to cancel if this has not been
done.

| The average invoice and shipping times?
I'm not too wedded to anything in particular
being included in the chart, just that we have
some sort of uniform disclosure chart so that
store terms can be considered quickly and
accurately. So my suggestion is for the concept,
not any specific wording. Or was it something
else you objected to?

If BL still plans to launch auto-checkout, fees will have to be known up-front
to create the total to pay amount so I guess this would force BL to implement
something like this (just the fee issue)?

| Yes
I was irritated the other day by a seller that insisted on having cryptic, hard
to understand fees. I talked him back from two of them and paid the rest. I
needed the pieces he had so I purchased. It would have been easier if he had
more clearly listed the fees.

| Why don't you suggest a quote? That way you know all the fees and can agree
to the terms of the sale, or if you don't agree, you walk away and no one
is disappointed.

| Other than the buyer when the items sell before they receive the quote.
Quotes are great when they're sent quickly and the items are still available.
I'd rather have clearly displayed fees so I can decide, when the
part is available, if I want to make the purchase. The universal
chart seems like a faster and fairer method than the current
hodgepodge of terms and sellers who don't give quotes.
Then all buyers and sellers can quickly and easily asses true
pricing for their purchases in real time. Seems better than
waiting for quotes, when available, and risking that the items
sell in the interim.
