What is your source for this request? I have looked at the instruction images
and whereas it *may* be possible to build the primary model with the legs closer
to the body, the combined model with set 8743:

Set No: 8743 Name: Visorak Boggarak
*
8743-1 (Inv) Visorak Boggarak
47 Parts, 2005
Sets: BIONICLE: Visorak
...would be impossible to construct with the 47296:

Part No: 47296 Name: Technic, Axle and Pin Connector 2 x 5 with 2 Ball Joint Sockets, Open Sides
*
47296 Technic, Axle and Pin Connector 2 x 5 with 2 Ball Joint Sockets, Open Sides
Parts: Technic, Connector

Sorry for the delay, just saw your reply!

My source was the instructions. I counted out the pieces using Bricklink as a
guide, went to build the set from the instructions, and found I was missing a
white 47296. If you check step 4, you can see that it's the shorter 5 x 2
piece. The instructions don't call for a white 50898 throughout. I also checked
the inventories of a couple of other sets in the collection, and they used a
47296 in the same place.

However, I hadn't checked the combined build. Now I've looked I see that
it definitely calls for a white 50898, but it's not clear where it comes
from if it's meant to be a 47296 on the primary model.

...

Ok - I've just checked further, and I saw that the photographs of the model
in the instructions showed the 7 x 2 piece. It turns out there's two versions
of the instructions linked on Brickset, one was erroneously printed with the
5 x 2, which lead to the confusion!
