Suggestion here,

I think I have a good idea for the wanted list.

A seller can see how many people want what color of what part/set. That is a
good feature in itself.

My thoughts:
Make it so sellers could view the exact details of the wanted items. Not the
usernames due to everyone personally contacting them about orders.
BUT let sellers see the specifications of the wanted items such as the quantity
people want and at what price. If a seller could see this we could actually go
on a hunt and try to fill these orders.
This would make the sellers money, bricklink more money with fees, and the buyer
will be happy to get the items they wanted.

What does everyone think?

Buyers want everything for half the listed price, and free shipping.
No mystery there. And the result would be ever-cheaper prices.

...so even if features were being added at this time, I don't think this
one would be considered. Competition is good, but forcing everybody to sell below
cost hurts sellers, and the site.

I would never have thought that people would place items for half off the sale
price and free shipping. That just makes no sense. I do see what you are saying
though for lowering prices if that feature were available.

I know they are not currently adding features but with the new owner of BL I
know he said something about setting up a way for people to submit ideas to him
for the new website.

Really, sales data is more relevant than Wanted data.
Take pneumatic air tanks, for example.

Part No: 67c01 Name: Pneumatic Air Tank
*
67c01 Pneumatic Air Tank
Parts: Pneumatic

Lots of people want them, in both colors.
But the number for sale exceeds the number wanted, and greatly exceeds the number
that have sold in the last six months. So if you were looking to list one for
sale, you'd already know that listing at the low end of the price guide is
required if you want to move them quickly.

You make alot of assumptions in that statement. I use my wanted list as of major
parts I want. it contain minimum quantity but not a price. I rather see all stores
shorted in lowest price order.I make that choice what I am willing to pay the
day I put in a order. They might already be shops out there with a price I am
willing to pay. But my next order may still be months away.
Your right in one thing the next store I will order is very likely to have atleast
something from my wanted list in their inventory list. or offer very low prices
or free shipping.

I would say that most factors that effect which store I choose is outside the
sellers control. Like the country it's located in because of shipping fees.
I am very unlikely to buy from USA becasue it's outside the European Union
and I get a hugh extra handling fee to get packages from these countries on top
of the normal shipping fee and taxes.

so US stores can't compete fairly with a neighbour country store in this
regard.

things a seller can effect, nothing should really be news they are all common
for most buyers.

I won't buy from stores with extra fees, handling fees for lots should be
included in the price. if you want me to buy large quantities set lot prices
for 10, and 100 quanties with a lower part price.

I need to be in the lower end of the price range, but a good inventory is more
important then being cheapest.

a high minimum buy is likely to prevent me from being a customer, because your
inventory might not be ideal for a large order, while it might handle a small
one. but in the end it won't be that small because it must be worth the postage.

personally I prefer buying ten €20 orders over a year then one €200 order. even
if I save on shipping. It's more about the feeling/fun factor of all the
small packages adding and moving your hobby forward then just one giant leap
and the halt it for months.
