Keep the current system but add the following:

Make it so that regardless of the filter one is looking through a shop
with and icon will appear on the right side of that item's list (next to
where the the wanted list info currently appears). Make so that either one can
click on it and have a small pop-up window appear OR hover the mouse over it
and a tooltip appears. This window or tooltip would contain a list of all that
user's wanted lists on which that item appears with quantity on each list
and (if there's multiple lists) the total quantity wanted. That way it would
be easier to get additional information on a part that you have in multiple wanted
list if one is view parts that are on just one list. It would also help by noting
that a part appears in one's wanted list while just browsing without any
filters set.

I did, but the information provided when that's used is not as in-depth as
it could be. Right now the only way to get detailed information on part in one's
wanted list is to load bricklink in a separate window and find all the references
of that part in the wanted list.

Yeah, not bad. The main problem I have with "Multiple Wanted Selection" option
is that if you deselect all the wanted lists except for one of them (for example)
then it no longer shows the "total quantity wanted" and if you select all your
wanted lists you might have to go through multiple pages of items to find the
specific ones you're looking for just to get the total wanted. In my specific
case I have multiple wanted list, but I always have one specific list that I'm
trying to focus on so I want to get the parts off that list first, but if I happen
to to meet a minimum purchase amount I'll try to get the total quantity I
want instead of just the quantity for the list I'm focusing on. There are
also other situations where it would be useful as well.

The reason I think a tooltip or an icon you can click on for a pop-up with that
info would be good is because the current system is very clean and just a little
icon in the corner would keep things from becoming cluttered.
