I would like to see some sort of small notice or alert if an inventory has changed
since the last time I've parted out that specific set.

Definitely a good suggestion. I mentioned it before a couple years ago and nothing
has been done.

That is why whenever I list a set for sale, I always provide the date on which
the inventory was verified in case a change happened after my date of listing
the set.

Some sets' inventories have been amended after they've been verified as well

I may have misspoke. I don't wan't an email, or a message sent out. (Most of
those suggestions ask for some version of a message to be sent) Just a note on
the page when you go to part the set out.

Ok, an inventory was submitted, and the submitter forgot the extras.
Why would you want to be alerted?
Haven't you counted the parts when you added them to your inventory?

Next thing, you parted out a set 5 years ago (or another member parted it out
12 years ago) and the parts are long sold or merged with other lots you added
years later. An error has been undetected for years in the inventory and is now
corrected.
What sense would the alert make?

I parted out this set (of course the European version)

Set No: 2255 Name: Sensei Wu blister pack
*
2255-1 (Inv) Sensei Wu blister pack
10 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 5 Gear, 2011
Sets: NINJAGO: The Golden Weapons: Spinners
Someone added the North American versions of the game cards later.
Why would I want to be alterted about the adding of the alternate cards?

Short story:
In how many instances would it really help someone to be alerted about changes
in an inventory?

Every seller is responsible for what he/she adds to his/her inventory.
Simply using the part out function and blindly adding the parts to the store
inventory is at least careless if not ignorant.

Why should the system help sellers who are too lazy to check what they add to
their stores?
What would be the benefit for BrickLink?
Would BrickLink earn more money?
Would it result in more sales?

I voted no. Too much waste of valueable programming time.

The only reasonable counter-argument I can come up with is when a set is inventoried
using current known parts and the new set is being shipped with a new part variant
that is not functionally different or even significantly visibly different from
the known version it was inventoried with.
Not every seller can be expected to look through a jeweler's loupe at every part
they put in their inventory, either.

Of course, sellers would HAVE to use Bricklink's part-out system for this to
work at all and sellers like me that use Brickstore could not benefit from it.

Maybe I set the parts that aren't in the inventory yet to the side to add manually.
If I go to part out the set again a day (a week, and hour) later, it would be
nice if there was a simple alert (could just be one line of text) that says that
the inventory was updated/changed since I last parted out the set. Then I could
check to see what those changes were.

The coding wouldn't be intense, if the inventory has been changed since the last
time the set was parted out, display message.
Or even easier, just put a note that says the last time the inventory was updated/changed
no matter what.
Either way I don't want a message to be send out, just displayed

And lazyness is awesome! Am I expected to just toss out my remote control? My
power steering? My wife?
